Rocket League
Rocket League is Killing my Computer! Please Help!
So i've been playing rocket league on this pc for almost 350 hours without any problems. I updated my windows and after that everything was still fine while playing, but after around 3-4 days the game started freezing but still able to hear sound, then after a few seconds the sound also goes away, more seconds pass and my keyboard and mouse shut off, then my second monitor and then my main monitor. at that point i force shutdown my pc because i was afraid of it causing any damage. i can confirm that this is a recurring thing. It happens each time i start rocket league and happens randomly either from 2 seconds to 10 minutes into the game. I did update my graphics driver right after the second time it happened but it didn't help. I was able to quickly close the game with the task manager when it froze and once it was closed it was good again, but one time when i tried again the pc was laggy as hell even after closing rocket league until i restarted. I did try the solution from another discussion which was something with over-, downclocking to an even number which i tried but no idea if i did it right since i have absolute no clue about overclocking and downclocking but what i did didn't help so i quickly reset all that back to defaults. Pls help.

My Specs:

Nvidia Geforce GTX 760
AMD A8-7650K Radeon R7, 10 Computer Cores 4C+6G 3.30 GHz
8GB RAM
Windows 10 64bit
500GB HDD
1TB HDD
FSP Raider RA 650W

Edit: Turns out it now happens that Skyrim crashes too but it does't seem to crash or slow down my pc. I'm afraid that rocket league might have already damaged something but i can not confirm any of that obviously.

PS: Yes any other game works fine without any issues and no i haven't noticed anything overheating it was all rather cool in fact of the times when it happened.
well tbh i didn't use a software i just held my hand close that is what i usually do and my pc was much hotter a lot of times already than when it crashes in rocket league but if it only heats up for a few seconds before it crashes i ofc wouldn't notice it just by me holding my hand close but quite frankly i don't want to risk opening it up anymore since i don't wanna fry my graphics card or anything because i was able to run skyrim even after these crashes but after a few more trys to open rocket league and this happening i ran skyrim again just to see that this now crashes as well.

Try going to RL Video Options and turning Vertical Sync ON then see if it still crashes.

What software were you checking the temperatures with? I use freeware HWMonitor (published by CPUID).

Alright so i did try it now anyways i can say now that VSync did nothing in that case (yes i clicked apply X3) and i tried to get the temperature but well... the software ofc freezes as well since my whole pc is just crashing at that point and i used Nvidia Inspector for it but while i was able to play (less than 5 minutes) it was between 55 and 65 Celsius.
Check your PC temperature. See how works your task manager and PC while playing.
That only happens with the RL?
Turn all configs to minimal, try re-install, upgrade windows (or downgrade)
Update drivers, turn off anti-viruses or scan your pc (totally)
My first guess would be thermal issues. The most obvious usual suspects in that case are clogged/damaged fans or very old thermal grease. Damaged hardware is also possible, your hardware is a bit old...
Corrupted system files are possible (although maybe not very likely), updating/reinstalling drivers and running sfc -checknow should help in that case.

I usually use Open Hardware Monitor[openhardwaremonitor.org] in such cases. You can enable logging by ticking the "Log Sensors" option and it will create a csv file in the directory it is run from.
When opening the log with OpenOffice you will have to select comma as seperator, opening it with Excel will most likely be similar.

Alternatively MSI Afterburner can also display temperatures and other data as live overlay while playing.

Games don't damage hardware, overheating over long time is a more likely cause of any damages.

Don't change clocks when you have no idea what you are doing, it can result in damaged hardware!

That is why i changed only minimal values like i changed less than 50MHz and i only went down and not up since i know that might fry it.

I thought the same before i actually found posts about it

CPU was hitting 100% while loading but quite frankly this is normal for this old cpu and it never caused any problems but what worries me most is as soon as that problem happens i saw that the graphics card went crazy it went up and down rapidly from 100% to 0% back to 100% in a matter of seconds repeatedly. But before it happened it was at 30-40% all the time and once it happened instantly jumped to 100%. So it surely is something with the GPU i assume and this time when i tried skyrim it actually completely crashed the graphics card and i couldn't get any image on my monitors until i restarted. But considering the threads above that i posted i can't say rocket league isn't fault at all because people have had that problem just because of rocket league and the same thing happened for me everything was fine then one day i play rocket league just fine and then boom it crashes my pc and now everything else doesn't work anymore like something here is really fishy. :/ i don't have money to afford another graphics card i'm lost here :( browsing and watching videos still works at least and brawlhalla also works i'll test a few more games and see what happens.
So Minecraft Terraria and Brawlhalla seem all to work fine but as soon as it gets to a bit more complex graphics it will either be constantly at 99-100% or just crash. I tried Distance and that first didn't load any image anymore right before you get to the main menu and after a restart it worked fine but the GPU was constantly at 99-100% so i won't play that to prevent further damage.
Sounds like your GPU is broken and experiences massive problems once 3d graphics are used, but 2d still works.
Sorry, but replacing your GPU seems to be the only way to fix your issues.

Correlation does not imply causation! These posts prove nothing, as none of them even remotely proves damage through software. You will find a myriad of posts claiming that *insert game or software name* damaged hardware, but that doesn't mean that what they claim is correct.
Normal software doesn't damage hardware, there's a massive difference between games damaging hardware and hardware being damaged while playing a game.
As an example: There are confirmed reports of PS4s being damaged after running RL. The cause was horrible optimization which caused the consoles to run at 100% load, even at the main menu, which caused overheating issues. This is still a classic thermal issue (longterm overheating / improper cooling) and not the software destroying hardware.

I doubt it has anything to do with 3D and 2D it's more like how much GPU they use/need since as stated earlier minecraft runs fine and it's 3D. And i tried Crossfire a F2P FPS shooter and that also works fine but has bad graphics. So my conclusion is basically it's like the issues make it a less expensive graphics card overall but still usable i guess :/ i mean that is at least better than not being able to do anything. I guess other than that i can't fix the problem other than by buying a new one. sad but oh well. Thx for everyones help :3
