Rocket League went from..
something special into your average steam game. What once was super fun is now csgo or dota with a different game concept. Crates, ranked system and not even going to mention the rocket pass.. Literally no one plays it to have fun, rather only to rank up (or derank lol) Turning the fun modes into ranked has been the last trigger for it

There's no difference in the Ranked and Casual other than better matchmaking and you get rewards for playing it. The rocket pass is actually very popular it gives ppl something to work for. Ame many ppl including me play to have fun

better MM??? hello??? we are talking about Rocket League not cs:go even if he mention it.

rocket pass it's just a money grab that works very good, cosmetics are cool and only because that Rocket pass sold well plus you get the keys back as you level.

if rocket pass was like seasson rewards almost no one will buy it more than have the item to sell later.

and talking about MM i prefer deal with cheaters than the actual player base on diamond ranks in this game.

now as the OP said i'm agree 90% with him, some people still play because have fun, but psyonix force people to play ranked if they want the seasson rewards, that with the worst MM ever in a competitive game, people lose the fun pretty fast and are more worried to get more ranks to get the reward than actually have fun.
Hey dude ! I keep playing for the fun of it. Only reason. And I have fun.

Wrong and you know it.

I have played since release, and the skill level has reached a point where ranked matches are more competitive and fun than casual. The game is not fun anymore for me and I feel like every match I am playing against people that have no job and devote they're whole lives to the game. So the CSGO analogy is very apt on many levels. It alos does not help that game seems to have zero skill level matchmaking in randoms. The player base still around is at such a high level it is hard to find competitive ''fun'' games if you are even an above average player such as myself ( I barely hold a Diamond rank every season). I used to be able to at least learn from matches and improve when playing against teams above my skill level, now the skill gap is so huge I learn virtually nothing from most games because I am playing against season champions in randoms and people consistently pull of barrel roll ariels for accurate shots on goal. This game is about as NEckBeard as you can get as far as online competitive games go at this point.

Wrong and you know it.
The overall player skill level has reached a point where it is literally impossible to have a competitive fun game in randoms even if you are diamond rank such as myself. I try to play to have fun but part of that equation means the games have to be somewhat competitive. As far as I can tell there is zero skill level factored into matchmaking for randoms, consequently random games are not fun even for someone like me who is above average. Matchmaking is terrible in this game and as the skill cap has increased over the last 1-2 years I rarely have fun playing the game and I sure as ♥♥♥♥ can't improve in games where I am outmatched because the skill gap is so big. I agree with the OP, the vast majority of the player base still active are hardcore and there is nothing close to a casual group that just plays for fun. It is not any different than CSGO in that regard. The fact RL has non existent matchmaking makes the issue very apparent.

My level of enjoyment doesn't come from other people, but those that play with friends clearly are having fun.

The average skill of each rank is rising, which can only be expected, as the time and experience of the average player is also increasing as the game gets older. You can't dedicate enough of your life to the game so you are only keeping up or perhaps falling behind. If you don't have the time then I wouldn't worry about your rank too much.

Just because the vast majority has zero issue with the ranking system dosen’t give you the right to sit on here attacking anyone who enjoys the game, just do what everyone else who hates the game does and quit and find a new one. It will save you the daily humiliation you face everyday when you post this nonsense.

I love the game. All these hours and I still have fun. Granted about 1/3 have been just the game open. But the game is a lot of fun. It's a quirky concept and I can play it while watching stuff on tv/youtube.

I play it to have fun. What I don't do is play it beyond the point that I'm having fun. I play it pretty consistently, but this time I didn't play it enough to even reach lv60 on the Pass so I probably won't bother with it next time. I'm sure if I'd forced myself to grind for the items, or to stay in some rank I don't deserve to the point that I blamed the system for it, I'd be having a bad time.

I play it for fun.. even the ranked matches are being taken with the same impact on my mind, just like the casuals are.

Rewards are nice.. but it takes way too much time.
Like to win 60 matches to get my Diamond reward, which means, at least, 6 hours of the time needed to spend (6 hours, if I won't wait for the match making to find me a match, to not get to overtime, to skip all the goal replays, to win them all in a row).

That's just not worth my time.., and, so, I play only 3x3 and 4x4 casuals.

So you like playing this game for fun, but as soon as there's a reward attached to playing it stops being fun? 60 wins in 3 months: assuming you have a 50% winrate thats 120 games in 3 months.
That's 1.3 matches each day. If that's to much of a time investment you may want to reconsider playing videogames.

Yes, it stops being fun.
I don't like to be called a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, ♥♥♥♥♥, hoe, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, ♥♥♥♥♥♥, ... ..., or to see, how someone wishes (types) a death to me or anyone else, for example, to my family.

So, the thing is the fun, which goes away, based on the community reactions, if you play worse than your opponents.

The second thing is time.
I'm not gonna play this game every single day. That just doesn't fit me.
I have hobbies, friends, things to do, and I'm not gonna play this game every single day and to have to deal with the consequences in real life.
Real life is worth a lot more, I can't even describe it, to be honest, than the virtual life.

i wonder why that vast mayority are under plat ranks.... ohh yes i know.. because they never hit the highter ranks where the real problem is, and of course because there's more than 50% of users under this ranks...

so problably you are right if we talk about the whole player base, but when we talk about the player base above gold rank, the mayority don't like the MM.

so please i tell you the same as other users, use the brain before write nothing and read sometimes this forum and you will see that isn't my tought what i said always.

but no, you are another one that just try to troll others inventing what you need to look the "right" opinion, but once again without any proof, my proofs can be saw for everyone that just look this forum daily and are above gold ranks.
