Only get to play with bots online. no humans. Please, help me understand why?

I like this game a lot, but I can't seem to connect with other players in online play. every game is with bots weather I play ranked or not. not another human soul. it's just discouraging to play game after game without any player interaction. I only bought this game so I could play online. Is there a reason this is happening? I'm not a great player, but i thought the whole point of matchmaking was to pair you with equally skilled human players, not bots. Please, this is just dispairing.

There are no bots in ranked, you're doing something wrong.

??? Dude just play ranked. U r definitely doing something wrong. If u play casual u r sometimes gonna end up with bots. RL has one of the highest player populations for any game. With almost 200,000 players online per hour. Stop playing local or casual and go straight to competetive.

ok, sorry, I see your poin. I shouldnt be getting bots in ranked, but I have been. I'll test again to see, but I'm no longer hopeful...

No, you haven't. There are not bots in ranked. Never have been.
It seems you can't tell player from a bot.

Make sure you're in the Competitive playlist, you can put a screenshot in here for us to see it.

According to the RL Tracker he played over 40 games in Competitive, so he definitely played against other players.

This thread made me remember the guy that said he was going against parties in Solo 3s, that's why I asked OP for a ss, just for confirmattion.

I'm not trying to derail or spam, I admit the possability I might be wrong as well. i will experiment further to be sure. Is it typical for none of the players to respond in a game to the chat? even between rounds? I keep trying to get a respone out of any of my fellow players but nothing. just the typical nice shot! type stuff. I got a "hi" once out of what might have been an actual player but that's it. Also, I've joined ranked matches where one of my opponents moved forward in a straight line only and the rest didn't move at all. Is that normal?

Just because people don't type in chat, doesn't mean they're bots...

yeah, but you would think at least maybe 25% of people would respond. or 10% maybe. Not nobody every single game.

Most people just use quick chat, since it's enough to convey what they want.
Also, there are a lot of people with normal chat disabled.

ok, and I usually don't chat at all. But if someone asked multiple times if anyone else was playing, I'd probably give them some recognition just to shut them up. seems odd that nobody I play with responds at all. not even a "shutup, stop spamming."

Bots cant use quickchat(ie nice shot, great pass, etc). You can tell if someone is a Bot or not by looking at their:

• ping(Bots ALWAYS have 0)
  
• profile pic(it says AI and has a background colour of the team the Bot is on)
  
• player banner(Bots have Matrix-esk one)

RL is a game about smacking the ball with a car, not typing things out and chatting. The game is too fast paced to type during a match most of the time plus most people play on controllers. They'd have to put it down and grab a kb just to type back to you, hints why majority uses quickchat most of the time. Not to mention some people just dont care to talk to anyone.
