Private matches only let me play with ROBOTS. I don't HAVE 6 diffrent friends I want to play with, I just want to play with my one friend againt a bunch of randos

Either you mistake with Exhibition, either you didn't know that is possible if you create it with password and share it.

At the moment you can't no. But the devs have said they are working on a cross platform party system.

no. We created a private match. me and him. we were in the same room. However, i lack 4 other friends, so we're stuck only being able to play
against
robots.

If the car "shows up as an octane" than there should litterally be no problem in making a party with someone else. They would just have to disallow trade on those items.. which i'm pretty sure are commons already, which can't be traded to begin with.

Bear in mind that Buttercup and Rax aren’t native English speakers.

As stated by melloh, the Psynet party system that’s in beta on PC right now is being created with the long-term goal of cross-platform parties in mind. Console platform holders and their politics are the only thing that can prevent that, but luckily Nintendo and Microsoft are being open-minded this generation.
