Like every 5th server is a aceptable one.
Now: 25~40ms / 60~80ms and 120~140ms servers
They just don't care anymore.
nope its not them, since game went free to play, the number of players went up to over half a million, they knew they were going to have increase of players, but they cheap and lazy and didnt do anything about their servers. during the first few days of new season they had to even disable trading due to the strain on the servers, now if they needed to do that you know the servers are crap and cant handle so many users.
It also went F2P during the onset of pandemic when many people were stuck home, using the internet for video chat for work and video streaming for entertainment which put a huge strain on ISP networks which weren't robust enough in all areas to hold stable connections given the increased traffic.
For the majority of people complaining about constant packet loss, it's not the servers. You need to monitor ping to other destinations while playing to know what's the problem.
And you can't just assume that because you don't have problems in other games that it must be the RL servers. Other games can hide packet loss very well but those methods wouldn't work for a game like Rocket League.
funny you bring up pandemic, it increased player count before the new season, so right there they should have upgraded servers or got more, i got maybe 1 msg a month about connection issues maybe a lag here n there, but now, its way worse. i play other games and the connection issues are nowhere even close to the trash servers we have to deal with when playing with this game, i see pings range from the mid 20s to over 400. and there would be more complaints but consoles have so many built in correcting stuff they dont feel it as hard as pc users, imo.
Okay, so you are just going to ignore everything I said then.
The hosting companies Rocket League uses are also used by many other popular games. The servers are allocated on demand. If Rocket League needs more, they are given more. If they need less, the servers can be used for other games.
And no, consoles don't have magical built-in correcting stuff that helps fix lag in Rocket League.
no matter what you say or i say, it comes down to the game had a MAJOR increase of player count of over 250k and for them to not be ready for such numbers is sad and pathetic, just shows how cheap they are.
But are you sure it's the servers and not your internet? You have to run diagnostic test to know. Can't just speculate. Internet usage has almost doubled since pre-pandemic and believe it or not, your neighborhood using double the internet affects your internet. Then you would have to blame your ISP for not being ready to handle double the normal traffic.
If it was the servers, everyone would be affected. I'm not being affected, so yeah....
Occasionally the servers will lag and everyone on the scoreboard will get orange or red ping for a moment, but that is rare. If you are getting packet loss almost every game, then it's probably you. Also, never play on wifi.
I'll probably make a guide later showing people a simple free way to test their internet stability. It doesn't matter how fast your internet is. What counts for games is packet jitter.
I maybe get one match in a week with a bad server.
If you think this is bad you should try playing Elder Scrolls Online, their servers are on and off. It's so bad I don't even get my month of membership worth.
idk man, the worst times happen on the weekends, ive worked with computers for idk 20+ years, ive worked with computers since dad brought home an 8086 lol yes im that old. anyways i know internet can sometimes be funky, but ive been watching others pings also, and alot of people i see are getting an average between 100+ into the 200s, normally i dont see any pings go above idk ill up it a little and say 150ish. and yes i know wifi is like a volvo compared to a corvette when talking about cable vs wifi lol. and the worst times are on the weekends, plus ive played this game for over 3 years now, and hope i got a pretty decent feel for how the servers feel. but as a tech i know what i know in less then a day can become outta date, so im all ears for this guide your thinking of making.
