The game is 5 minutes long if you already played 4:30 you might as well finish up and be a good sport. However hey if they agree to forfeit then cool but if not play it out and don't complain. If you want to avoid it then get a teammate those are the 3 options. Anything else makes you the troll
- I just like playing, win or lose
- Might as well finish the game if there's 30 seconds left on the clock
- Forfeiting with 2 minutes or more on the clock ruins any chance of a comeback
- Free training: If someone is kicking my butt, I want to figure out how they're doing it and how I can counter it
- More free training: If we're losing because of a bad mate, I want to learn how to compensate for that
- More free training; Sometimes I'm playing too fast for my mates, or too slow. It's good to learn how to adapt to other people's play style
If you want to forfeit early after being one or two points down, you're basically giving up and sabotaging your team. And you lose my respect in the process (doesn't matter much, but it's true).
When you start a game, you commit to 5+ minutes of play. Don't let your mates down.
If I'm losing, but the game is balanced. My teammates are keeping up with position and pacing, and the game is good, I generally won't quit either. And interestingly enough, rarely do I get FF requests from any teammates in those games.
---
The times when FF is most apt, is when you have severely under-performing teammates, or bad team synergy in general, and nothing seems to be getting better as the game progresses. (Those are the things for unranked practice to train for, not ranked)
*Sometimes, you are the severely under-performing teammate, and it is your role to bow your head when your teammates are requesting a FF. If you're way below the game pace, and always out of position, staying in the game is a literal waste of everybody's time. If you suck, listen to your betters, and tell your own ego to take a piss!
---
That all being said,
Requesting FF in the first 30 seconds at the first goal is dumb as hell!!!! Synergy sometimes doesn't come until the second half of the game. Sometimes play styles are different enough that the adaptability takes longer for your team, but when it clicks, you wreck your opponents.
I tend to look at a 30 seconds needed per goal, so if we're behind by 3 goals at the 1 minute mark, it's time to FF. (This is subjective, but you know when your not gonna make that back, it's very obvious) That same calculus should be used throughout, if it's 2 minutes left, and you're down by more than 4 goals.... [it shouldn't even need to be said, but uhhhhmm, Forfeit!!!!]

Who wants to actually play with teammates who aren't interested in playing with them anymore?!? (Wanna define the term toxic? Yeah, That's you!)
Lastly, I would point out that slogging through a toxic garbage match from hell, is an amazing way to kill all your momentum, ruin your attitude, and otherwise make continued play and further matchmaking worthless. (I tend to take a 15 minute penalty, get a drink and a snack, have a sit down, and then come back after my time-out. You can piss-off if you think I'm gonna stay for that crap!) *I got better things to do!
