`How to use controller on epic games launcher?

i cant get it to work so me and my friend cant play together

Could you explain us better your issue?
Are you trying to play with your friend in split-screen?
if yes, do the following:

by the way, which controller are you using?

not trying to use split screen, we are playing on two different pcs. She has it on epic and i own it on steam, my controller works fine and hers doesnt.

we are both using ps4 controllers, and it works for her on steam games, just not rocket league on epic games launcher

then you could try to install the ds4 program that allows games to more easily recognize the playstation controller on a pc:
http://ds4windows.com/
or, as mentioned in my previous comment, try the guide recommended by Shalev and try to have the joystick recognized through steam using the Epic Games version

It's better to download ds4windows from here: https://ryochan7.github.io/ds4windows-site/ ds4windows by jays2Kings doesn't update anymore
