I agree that Smurfs have always been around. But as I already mentioned and some other people did too, there are many more smurfs now than back then. Which is obvious, when a game gets F2P and you can create as many accounts as you want.
Thanks for your offer, but I honestly don't know if I want to keep playing RL. It's not fun since Epic Games bought it.
I also contacted Epic Games, asking:
"How do you sleep at night, knowing that you support online mobbing, toxic behavior in video games and exploit children by ripping their money out of their pockets on purpose?"
Their answer:
"I understand that you're concern about the behaviors or anything that's not good for children. Please be advised that Rocket League is not part of our support so if you want to talk things about Rocket League, you may want to contact their support.
It's not just spending money, we make people happy about their purchases, they purchase games or items from us which gives them the benefit to play and they enjoy it. Not only that but we give discounts for it as well which makes it budget-friendly for players. "
So first of all, they don't care about the insults and the toxic community. They just the fault to Rocket League instead of feeling accountable for it. As mentioned, they only care about money.
Second, "items from us which gives them the benefit to play". How does a skin or anything cosmetic give a benefit to play???? This makes absolutely no sense. And discounts and budget-friendly??? Are you kidding me? 20€ for a virtual car is budget-friendly? or 10€ for a Fortnite skin? Are those the amazing budget-friendly dsicounts and deals? I can't even take their response serious.
If you call "couple hours" 3 days, week, month or even perma then yes.
You have option to Report/Mute and few other Chat settings. Not mentioning that you can play with friend/s, Party-Up with someone you liked to play in your march ,or try find teammate on forums/Discord/Reddit,etc. before match based close on your requirements.
About smurfs :
You need to have XP level 10 to start playing Competitive - it's not much but it's there.
There are smurfs (or cheaters, or both) in most of popular multiplayer games whether free or not. People buying accounts - impossible to monitor 24/7.
About blueprints :
It's irrelevant, they exist because crates were started getting banned as gambling.
About DLCs :
Don't forget that you no longer need to pay directly real money like you needed to before.
It's same as you would pay with Keys back in the day.
If you know how to trade or what to sell for Credits then price is not that big issue.
Item Shop items are usually more expensive - sure 500-1000 Credits would be more "fair" but can't expect same price (would be interesting to see situation in alternative universe when it would cost same price with OGs complaining about low price after about 1.5 years 'exclusivity' - not gonna lie)
As mentioned, the time extend of the ban is irrelevant. They simply create no accounts and keep being annoying. "You can mute players". Great way to look away as a developer. Just say that people can mute other players. Why is there even a chat function then? Also, I only play with mates. I stopped playing with randoms. But the opponents are toxic too. Not only random mates.
Getting to level 10 is a joke. Really. They will just amuse themselves in casual, insulting over there and destroying people, before switching to ranked. I don't know how this is an useful solution. And you really can't negligate that there are more smurfs in free games. This is absolutely obvious, seriously. Are you more willed to create 100 free accounts or 100 paid accounts? Come on.. please be honest to yourself. Free games always have more smurfs. You let them in FOR FREEE. They have no costs at all when creating a new account. Of course it is impossible to monitor 24/7, but not monitoring it all isn't a solution either. And making a game free, especially such a competitive game with an anyways toxic community, is as I and other commentors already mentioned an open invitation to smurf.
Concerning the blueprints: Imagine... there are games in which you only get items for free. Without any additional costs. Just through playing. Can you imagine that? :O It is incredible, isn't it?
About the DLCs. So you don't pay real money to get ingame credits? Also the keys were the same. You paid real money for them. Why do you need to change the prize? You could have the same prize instead of making it higher or lower. And also talking about "exclusiveness". Why not WORK and develop something new? Instead of reusing old DLCs which were meant to be limited? Imagine you WORK to CREATE more content. What a crazy idea.
Note: Below I edited quote to better see parts I'm replying to.
About Blueprints = I think you forgot you created this topic about that game was better before Epic Games.
Now you write about free items - opening crates with keys was not free.
You used to have in-game drops items for leveling up and Twitch drops. Now you have Drops from completing Challenges, Twitch drops and as well Tournament Cup rewards.
About DLCs = No, you can also trade items for Credits - yes, same as Keys.
I don't know who told you or where you read that DLCs were meant to be limited - It was stated "may appear in Item Shop at later date".
I play game mainly because I like gameplay so I can't relate to "developing something new".
I didn't forget it. But the blueprints made about 10% of my post. Exactly, do you still get those random drops? And you already had the challenges back then, didn't you? As well as the rocket pass. That's not new. True for the tournament cup rewards.
I never said that those DLCs are limited. You brought up the topic of exclusiveness. And also I know that some people in the community were mad that you can buy those DLCs again. I personally couldn't care less about if they are exclusive or not. I just said that you could nevertheless develop new DLCs, instead of using the same ones again. But it's always simpler to do nothing and earn money by reusing stuff.
Dont matter if they do Develop new DLC's anyway theyre going to be downgrade/ copy pasted(Looking at you F1 car...) as ♥♥♥♥ and they have audacity to charge 30 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dollars for them ever since the Epic asses bought them. Thats why they're bringing the Old ones back. Plus, the Rocket Pass now is Severely downgraded and lost its Value since it has 2 Car variants now, Boring Goal explosions and boring cosmetics
Oh and they Copy and pasted an old stage and called it "racing theme" when its now where near racing theme... by lazily adding black white checkered flags and a "race track". They could've added an IRL nasscar stadium to the game but no, they needed the Fortnite money from the kids using their mothers credit card.
this is where your 40+ dollar costmetics are going to... and everyone seems ok with it 🤦♂️
Surprisingly though the Neon Stage is the only good thing (and probably the remix car) the devs made so thats a positive out look at least

I mean comparing water which is essential for anything that we know of to live.. vs as you stated worthless virtual trash is a bit of a stretch? I wouldn't call it virtual trash I have spent money on the game and I enjoyed the items that I have bought. I have been able to use them to make my car look the way i like it, been able to trade with my friends or just gift them items both fun for me and them, I never felt once like I had to spend any $ I did so because I enjoyed the product they had.
I guess technically you are right about having more smurfs but I still feel like especially in 3s if you work as a team over coming a single smurf is doable. But that is just my opinion. Find 4-5 (use comms) people to play with on a regular basis. If 2 are on do 3s, if 1 is on do 2s.. Maybe make another account where you just solo queue and use your main to play with people for rank?
It's great that you had fun with the cars and the cosmetics, but they are still virutal cosmetics. That's what we mean. I ain't saying that you can't enjoy them, but the problem is, developers can, as we see in Rocket League, abuste the fact that these items are non-existant. Can you imagine the profit margin on such products? It's just a car that they developed once 5 years ago or so and they can sell endless amounts of it, because it is virtual. They don't have to produce them or anything similar. Nevertheless, they prizes are incredibly high, because people buy the cars. Do you know what I mean?
You are telling me you can beat a smurf in 3s? First of all, it depends on the level of the smurf, and also on the rank of the other players. Let's say, you are champ 1? You play with your two champ 1 mates against 2 champ 1 and 1 smurf that is grand champ. You really think you can win that? If you win, it's because they are using you as training. You might win in casual, but unlikely in ranked.
