Report a translation problem
You could run tracert on a game server IP address and use the results to pinpoint the issue. This could massively help identifying problems with your VPN provider or a faulty node somewhere on the route to the servers.
But if you suspect that your computer or it's configuration is the problem there are several steps you could try:
IIRC syria is one of the countries that are blocked from the game servers. A VPN is an easy way to avoid that.
It's often worth it to find the exact location of the issue and report it with as many useful details as possible. But that's just my personal opinion after getting such connection issues resolved multiple times.
Like Whoops... mentioned, there are people that don't experience any problems, making it unlikely that the problem is with the actual servers, more likely somewhere between the server and the clients.
