Rocket League keys?

Lets say if u won a rocket key from a giveaway or a friend, can you still activate it? Because I know the game isnt available anymore but do the keys of rocket league still work?

Impossible to say. You'd just have to buy it and take the risk (we're talking about a key shop here, aren't we?).

It was sold elsewhere and bundled multiple times. I still have like 4 keys from bundles since I already owned it

Some people can still play it if you bought it before so that’s why

I understand that but a key is technically just the game on a coupon, if the games not on steam no more how do you buy it on steam??

Game keys still work, even if the game is no longer available for purchase.
A few years ago. I bought a couple of game keys for games no longer available in the Steam store. (DiRT 2 & WRC Powerslide) They both worked fine.
A Rocket League key on the other hand is pretty much useless if the game is free to play anyway.
Unless you really want Rocket League in your Steam library, then it's okay to use.

Keys work forever like 99% of the time unless the game was banned or legal issues. You can buy keys for games that haven't been on steam in 5+ years and they still work.

Depending in the game, some sites still sell them or people have extras from a bundle. Usually the legit sites are bought out / hoarded tho. So Rocket League for example was bundled 4 or 5 times and sold on multiple websites. So if you get a key from someone that still has one you can still just activate it like normal.

Some people trade / sell keys. Personally I think its dumb but eh. Rocket leaguecis also old enough that people will have gift copies in steam inventory also

So technically the game will never leave steam?? if the game isn’t on steam anymore then where are the files being downloaded from that you use the key for?? I literally have no clue in how it all works but just seems weird to me

The game hasn't left Steam. It has been removed from the Steam Store. This only means that it cannot be purchased anymore, hence all other areas (Community Hub, reviews, library page etc.) remain unaffected.

The last few I seen online months ago were being sold for 80-100 bucks each, if you need it that bad, that's the kinda prices your looking to pay.
