Tips for playing with randoms who just don't work well together
I posted this response below to another thread, but I wanted to make a thread with the same response, slightly edited, because I think many players can learn from this (and maybe quit blaming their teammates for everything when it can be helped lol). Too many players blame their teammates for losing without realizing that you can still get a win. I am not an expert at this game, but this is from personal experience. If you have something to add feel free to reply. Please be respectful towards other commenters. If you criticize, at least make a thoughful point on why you don't agree.

Play more defensively when your teammates:
-Don't rotate properly
-Are having a hard time connecting aerial shots/ground shots
-Aren't passing the ball and just ball chase
-Can't block shots (even basic shots, it happens even to the best)

When your teammates are doing any of these above (or all of these) that means you need to play more defensively. The reason why is because if your teammates aren't rotating, and you are, you are leaving your defense to players who are going to have a hard time blocking. Yes, rotating is very, very important, but rotating is only useful if your teammates are rotating as well. Be your teams defence. (Don't give up offense though, If you see a clear shot, go for it).

Watch how your opponents play too. How well can they do aerial shots? If they are missing their aerials, do more aerial shots. If they are good at aerials, get control of the ball and dribble. Set up shots for yourself if you have to.

I've played with Diamonds (and a few times, Champs) who don't hit most of their aerials or even score most of their shots, even if they are good at aerials.

REMEMBER: You're not going to win every game, and will not always get good teammates. That's just how the game works. We all have bad days, we've all been there, and we all make mistakes. Just play. Have fun, don't stress.

Edit: If you really don't want to play with randoms, get with players of your rank, party up and communicate with each other through discord or whatever prefered program you want to use. Play a few practice games before you get into ranked with them.

Or if you avoid solo 3s...partner up with someone and don't whine about randoms.

Playing in a party is a great way to get better at the game. Especially when you use Discord/Skype or whatever program you prefer to use, real communication rather than in-game communication changes the entire game.

I don't always need to party up with players because I can hold my own pretty well by myself. I don't normally get bad teammates in randoms anyways, everyone seems to play well enough, and if they make a mistake they apologize for it and we all are fine with it because we know mistakes happen. (I apologize for my mistakes as well, majority of people are fine with it and most don't even use the chat anyways where I am at).

This game should be friends only, randoms are 100% pure cancer and a nuisance.

Lol. Team up with me for a few games, and Solo Standard will start to look like a little slice of Heaven.......

My problem is more that they go for the same ball.

Or that they go for the ball and think about a 1v3 instead of passing, just had a game where a thought that my teammate went for a wall to aerial pass but instead he just went for a dribble and gave a pass to an opponent in the middle.
Result was a goal because I was going after the ball and a teammate was going for boost.

My placement matches were much better, getting high Diamond players and up. Had a great time playing together in solo, but after I got my rank I just wanted to ragequit...

As for getting a teammate, I have only friends on my list that are champs and up...

Tip number 1 : say what a save, each time you get scored.

The only time I really get toxic players is with randoms. Would have to say that a party only system for every game mode would be nice but sometimes people just want to play by themselves.

People would definitely get better games (and get overall better at the game)

To be honest I don’t think you can really do anything with ball chasers. I’d say let them ball chase and still play defensively when you can but that’s all I can say.

As for having friends that are champs and up, I’m willing to team up :) I’m an average Diamond player but I’m definitely a team player and play with my brothers all the time.

Well I've asked my IRL friend if he wants to play 2v2 or 3v3 sometimes, he is Champion and I've played with him alot few months ago.

So I will probably start playing with him more, but I want to play with him casual before going ranked because he is Champion and I don't want to derank him.

But last time he was high Diamond and I was like Plat 2 and still kept up with everyone, maybe it's changed now so I hope to get better and eventually go ranked with him.
