PSA: If you skipped Epic Account Creation...
I've just been in a lengthy and very clumsy chat with Epic Games support.
Like many people, I chose to simply use the "one-button link" in Rocket League to be able to play the game without making an entirely new account.

I did this on Steam, and on my Consoles as well.
Later I decided to create a full Epic Account just so that I could have one profile instead of three, and share items between them,.

Apparently this is now impossible. I'm left with three accounts with no way to merge them.
There is no way to link the "headless" accounts with a real Epic account without first unassociating them -- which erases the data (your Rocket League profile, items, progress)

THIS is the very definition of a mess. And it should've been made clear early-on, that using the handy "one-button link" would mean you are forfeiting the ability to have linked accounts FOREVER.

1. Log-out of your main Epic account first.

2. One-by-one, Upgrade each of your "headless" accounts to full Epic accounts, using a different e-mail address for each.

[3.[/b] Log-in to each upgraded account, click "Account" from your profile icon in the top-right, then click "Connections" from the left menu.

4. Proceed to UNLINK the specific console from your upgraded account, then sign-out from it. You can safely ignore the warning pop-up, you won't lose any data.

5. Now log-in to your main Epic account, And LINK all of your consoles to your main account.

6. Lastly, go to RocketLeague.com/activate and make sure that your Primary Account is set correctly, so that your items and progress sync with the other consoles.

Glad this is solved, and hopefully this will help everyone else who found themselves in the same situation.

Thanks for the info. I haven't played the game since I wasn't sure if I wanted to link my accounts or use the one-click button. I wasn't sure what the implications were.

I hate that they were doing this account link crap.

I just would not take that risk, emotions were running high and hasty decisions were made by a lot of people and they will pay the price if they change their mind like you did, I do feel sorry for them. It's not that epic can't do it, I've done some database work before, it's that they wont because they don't want to use all of their system administrators time correcting user errors when the automated account linking system frees them up to work on more pressing issues.

Thank you for the link Pigeon, but this does not work as expected. And this is what I was in conversation with Epic Support about.

After following the steps in that article, I am left with separate accounts still. They are not actually "linked" as they should be.

Instead of one unified profile, I still have my three accounts:
- My Epic Account that I created manually
- All the upgraded accounts that were originally headless

The issue wasn't a lack of thought, it was having incomplete information. But thank you anyway

It wasn't even that. My emotions weren't running high -- I wasn't peeved that the transition was happening or anything.
I just wish it would've been clearly stated that "If you use the one button link... that's it. You will NEVER be able to merge your accounts later"

That would've given everyone (including myself) the information we needed to make a proper decision.

so you just want 4 epic profiles combined into 1? This is not Epic's fault
Seems normal to me. Can't blame them. You made a choice. This is a real life choice there. And it is how is life.

Please re-read my previous posts. Not clearly articulating the process and the consequences of pushing a button is the point -- and yes, that actually is on them

The purpose of this topic is to warn others to not make the same choice I did, and thereby sabotage themselves based on that lack of information.

Don't you have to link your steam and EG account/one button link. How do you play on Steam without ever having an affiliating EG account? As I refuse to play RL atm but I want to... I just absolutely refuse to play with anything linked to EG, as they have terrible account security and dodgy information security.
