Why so many people in platinum play like silver / gold I or II?

Can anyone answer me? Because I am almost always playing with a teammate who never rotate, sit under ball, chase balls, take my balls from my roof. And it all happens in platinum 2-3. I don't understand.
PS. I also meet guys who can't double jump in platinum
PS. 2 I also meet legends versus me. They are air dribbling and my teammate can't even double jump because he is making backflips.

Another thing is that not everyone is striving for the highest rank. Some people are playing Ranked like it's Casual because they prefer it, but they don't care about it like you do. They are happy to goof around a bit, and despite doing that they still maintain their rank. If they applied themselves, maybe they could do even better, but they're not like you. I think this goes along with the old "PS4 players suck!" thing. A lot of PC players, perhaps most PC players, are playing alone on their machine by themselves. Console players are playing in living rooms, with friends and other distractions.

Rocket League is just a game, and if you polled the majority, there is no earthly way that they would say, "We're sweating for the highest rank. We're playing this at the expense of other games, training like athletes." The majority would say they're playing because RL is a great game, because it's fun, because no matter how many other great games that get released, they can't stop coming back to play RL for a few hours a week.

Nope, it's because op is so self centered and thinks he is better than everybody else. If he was any better he wouldn't complain and he would win every match.

Still, you would be winning every match if that was the case. And I don't see those mistakes back in Bronze that much. If your teammates are that bad, so is the opposition. That's why i think you aren't any better. And also that's the case with most people whining here about that.

Psyonix needs to grow a spine and make it go by the highest MMR, instead of an average MMR and then do a hard reset and make all unranked players playing their placement matches to do it solo until placed.

We'd both do our solo placement ranks, get ranked at whatever ranks and then start playing again untill we reach our average in about 100 games, give or take.
During these 100 games we'll have to endure people like you "reporting" us for boosting and at the same time "ruin" the experience of those people.
And then.. we'll both be at plat2 again.

What am I missing?

Actually, if they did what i was suggesting, it would go by your MMR (since you would be the highest) and you would be facing players that are at your level.

If i was in your position, i would help my girlfriend improve in training matches and casual matches and when you feel she is at around your level, give or take, then go into ranked.

I can assure, while i can understand some people are like you, where you are playing with friends or their other halves, but it is not fun to being in gold ranked and queueing up for ranked matches expecting at most platinum I players and atleast Gold II players only to get a Diamond I, II or III and a Silver I, II or III..........we tend to get pretty much raped by the diamond......that is not fun or fair and it really needs to stop.

When it isn't this problem. its when a Gold III plays like a Diamond and a Platinum plays like a Silver.

Boosters can be impossible to find, just like Smurfs, since they could be just coming from the consoles to the PC.......and there boosters out there that boost because it gets them more easy wins than it does playing fair.

While smurfing has been technically prevented, boosting however is still there because of the group Average MMR Calculations.

But overall, it seems they prefer to prevent groups of friends (ie. you) to play together regardless of their rank differences and screwing over players of the lower ranks that don't play
ranked with their higher ranked and likely just as skilled friends.

I have friends that are Diamond+, they have offtered to play ranked with me, i just don't want them to lose their rank because of me, cause i know i am not good enough to be in high plat, let alone diamond, we play Casual and private matches.

If i had a girlfriend that played this game, i would honestly play casual and help her improve in casual and private matches and when she is at my level, then i would play ranked, not because i am fearful of my rank, but i am not a fan of unfair matches, even if i have the advantage, winning is not so enjoyable when its easy to achieve.

Not sure if i am clear.

I'd have no issue with groups being ranked by the highest mmr, but in the end we'd still end up in plat 2.

On the part about her catching up, I had 1500h into rl when she started. We're now at 2000/500 and she definately improved more then I did in that time, but actually catching up is not gonna happen anytime soon.

About casual.. I would totally play only that (with her) if it wasn't for the crazy amount of leavers and the throwing people in halfway matches. If I play RL, I wanna play a full match (or untill ff).

In the end I just have to disagree with you. I feel that we are not hurting players who are plat1.5 when they have to face a plat3 and gold3. The difference in skill isnt that big between those ranks. Evidence of that is the fact that we are pretty much at 50% winrate now.

No, for example I have 2x veteran in team vs legend and master. Rare but sometimes rocketeer.
