why do people boost to the side right away?
What is with the absolute SCOURGE of people boosting out of position to go for the full side boost refills AT kickoff? I even have people who spawn IN THE GOAL leaving to get boost, only for other teams to score immediately because there's no defenders?

Like seriously? This is a recent thing I've noticed. It's bad gameplay and ruins rounds for the other two people. Why is this a thing?

because when people would do a good kickoff you dont need to be in goal at the beginning only 1 player needs to be at the ball

In comp you ALWAYS need a defender, pure and simple. Positioning is really important. I agree only one person needs to go for the ball, but someone NEEDS to be in goal.

yes sry that just wrong even if you go to the corner boost you can block the ball that goes into the goal
maybe not in low ranks but if you are higher than platinum you are more playing on rotation than with a hard goaly

Well, I ain't platinum, and I won't ever be after playing with people who don't know how to defend :steamsad:

Its more more efficient game-play for the spawned defender to get full boost and or the spawned kick off player to direct the ball to them, if the ball goes in the net on a kick off, that's on who took the kick off no being able to hit the ball properly.
3vs3, one kick off, one follows up, one defends, I despise peole, who go for boost at kick off, ball can bounce any direction, no matter how you do kick off

you can hit the ball differently so the ball dont fly into the goal

The ball only bounces in any direction if your kick of taker dose not know how to hit the ball.

its 3v3, three people are involved, so its up to ALL of them to make sure the ball doesnt go in. Saying its all on the striker is, you know, silly. Defense is important. Just because you don't like to do it doesnt mean its invalid as a proper gameplay strategy.

You probably never seen 2 vs 1 kick off

I would say it depends on rank. If you feel comfortable as defending goal then feel free until some higher rank range. I would be more mad when they would follow kick-off as 2nd player and miss.

Found this very deep explanation of (almost) every Kick-off situations:
https://www.dailyesports.gg/rocket-league-kick-off-strategy-guide/

Most of the times I do "Peeling, Controlled Kick-off".
Only occasionally I do "Cheating kick-off" strategy. (Currently Champ 1 in 3s Standard and Diamond 1 in 2s)

It also depends how you are going for corner boost. I don't like to see if my teammates are going for corner boost and immediately turning outwards to attack opponent goal instead of turning inwards to defend our goal.
Turning inwards to defend goal is definitely safer.
I do turn outwards for attack only if I see how kick-off will go or if we are trying Controlled kick off.

I hope this sums it up for both low and high skilled players.

Can you point me in the direction of any show matched game or a game that has been broadcast on a comp level that a player has just sat in the goal on a kick off. There is a reason experianced players don't do it after probably doing it thousands of times and determining that it is more effective to get the boost and pick up play from where the zero boost kick off taker is now recovering.

It's people who just blindly go for corner boost and assume their mates will do a perfect kick-off.
