Another note: my main gripe with the PS4 controller is that it's not universally compatible with all the games I play on PC. It requires the use of third-party software to function well with all PC games. I didn't want to deal with the hassle configuring it seperately, however from what I have read, it does open up a lot of options for customizing the controls (and it's really not that complicated to use, it's just that I'm too lazy :P). If it weren't for this, I wouldn't have bothered buying the Xbox One controller and would have kept using the DS4 (since I have a PS4 anyways.)
Rocket League is compatible with the DualShock 4, so if you intend to use it just for this game and prefer the DS4, then go for it. Or if you don't mind the use of third-party software, then it should be fine. Ultimately, it's all about what you prefer since, as I said, everyone has different tastes.
Not all games are compatible with the DualShock 4. Rocket League supports the DS4, so it works as simple as plug and play. But some of the games I own don't recognize the DS4, and require said software to function properly.
No need third party software.
Then you can you choose
That was my initial plan, if the 360 controller hadn't basically vanished from all stores where I live that is :P
I have recently considered trying a DS4 primarily for rocket league. My reasoning being afaik the game originated on PlayStation and I think the DS4 is good to hold for a long session.
My mate tried steam controller recently to take advantage of the rear extra buttons but he went back to his xbox pad shortly after. Personally I think I would like to use rear buttons I would like to try steam controller too .
