There is tons of guys who beg others to leave reps for them for nothing just so they can scam others by having tons of reps and appearing as they can be trusted.
Reps are useless since u can just delete all negative comments from ur profile and leave the good ones.
It is suppose to mean how much someone trades or how reliable they are but really it means nothing.
All of above it's true. But it's not only related to trades, it can be about in-game behaviour if you nice or bad. Also it can be used as thanking to user who helped you.
You can have kinda better control if you allow comments only for friends as you have.
You can take example of my profile comments ;)
Also since you wrote you're new to trading I would like to give you 2 links how to trade safely as possible and how to avoid being hacked (phished)

See this is what i'm a bit concerned about. It's a great idea but in the end it's literally just comments based on this system of "good faith" (which we honestly don't have in this community these days based on the toxicity in the game chat, let alone how people act else-where.). Thanks for being honest guys, seems like you've been hit pretty often with the negative side of it all pretty regularly i guess? :(
So this is literally a community created system to help weed out negativity while bolstering the good players where possible.... and it's purpose is to be a way that supports the growth of the game but instead just gets treated like a one-way street, since negative comments like stated above can get deleted... Sort of like how world of warships has that "compliment" system which never really works because all people do is compliment youtubers and complain about those who sink them. Sound about right?
That's rough... Also my account only has friends available to comment?? I thought i turned that off years ago! Christ no wonder i haven't been able to communicate with anyone! I'll have to fix that ._.
And yeah basic knowledge of secure accounts is always a must-have. So i do appreciate the repost of that, though most of it is already well established for me :) I'm part of a family of gamers so we've had all sorts of good and bad experiences with these kinds of things (mainly my little brother who is naive to the negativity of the online community and has been scammed out of several items over on PS4.) That and I help run a streaming community on my time off work.
All in all guys thanks so much for the information. I'll certainly aim to use the system where i can, even if the system has its flaws (mainly comment deletion).... Though i guess you could technically get around this by using your own comment section or description section to keep track of scammers... idk, i'll have to look into that. I also know there are a few sites that help legitimize trading like rltracker which has a scammer list and the like... So i'll certainly be mindful of what's been said here :D
As you may know... The famous game Dead by Daylight has so kind people, who'll spam your profile with ''-rep'' stuff, as if there was no tomorrow, just because you've managed to beat them in the match.
If you wanna proof, take a look at my comment wall yourself... Although, the ♥♥♥♥ stuff made with ''-'' have been deleted by me long time ago, so you shouldn't see those ones..
