Why are the words "Voice" and "Chat" censored in the Party Chat box?

Even if you l33t speak it, it's still censored. I didn't know these two words were so offensive...

I dont mind censored cuss words, thou i find it stupid they only censor your party chat and not actual in match chat. and i diffently start minding, when they start censoring non profane words like : voice, chat, school, college, steamLink and many more NON PROFANE words. i cant even have a normal private convo with my friend in my party anymore, because over half of our senteces get censored for no reason at all.

this is pretty much how it looks, one my friend said he couldn't stick around too long because he had college coming later that day, the other is me asking my party if they wanna jump on voice chat ... soo profane

They apparently LOCKED my friends post about this subject. He was officially censored by the even higher ups for not accepting being censored like a good little sheep. And I thought STEAM was one of our last strongholds against this rampant digital slide to the left. Guess not. Welp.

Every time they ADD something to RL they make it dumber. Like... hmm... toxicity is an issue.. so lets allow the winning team to dance in the face of the losing team! That wont in ANY way add toxicity to a game. Just focus on making a soccer car rocket game. Dayum.

I am double downing with Snafu's call... and the whole group we play with, in saying that we personally will be no longer giving them money till they give us an opt-out on their censorship. I am an adult. WE are the fans who give you our cash. Treat me as so. I've given you thousands of dollars, as have my friends, and gifted the game over 20 times.

I rarely ever use the ingame chat, so I wasn't aware of all its limitations. But I see now that apparently there's a lot more words that are puzzlingly censored as well? If I could get an official statement from a moderator to answer why normal words are made inaccessible in Party Chat of all things, that'd help in clearing things up. Locking forum posts without a word only increases any possible tensions and by extension, increases more drama that you'd have to put up with.

my guess is because the voice chat in the game is terrible and broken, and they dont want people talking about it.

I'd say getting upset over cars doing flips for 5 seconds is a "rampant digital slide to the left".
