Rocket League lagging while Netflix is open
I like to watch (listen) to series on Netflix, while playing training.

If i have Netflix running in the background, Rocket League starts to stutter a lot.
Only way to fix this, is to close Rocket League, Netflix and restart Steam.

RL is the only game, that has this weird bug for me.

And no, my computer has enough resources!
Same thing works with way more demanding games.

Anyone else with the same problem or a fix?

yes but scales with the tabs open, so if he only has some open there shouldnt be a problem
even with scales. ... like srsly it takes alot of space.

every background application that is on takes up alot of ram. specially chrome with all those extensions, and other bs it has
yes but rl needs 2gig of ram so i dont see there a problem

are u stupid or are u pretending to be stupid?

you're just not admitting that you're wrong and just ignore all help u get.

use netflix on your phone instead of having netflix on the background, same goes to google. close it before opening rocketleague.

best thing to do would be to try it again if it stutters let everything run open your task manager go to the tab where you can see the resources make a screenshot (you can use alt+print and copy it into paint) and then upload it here so that we can check it.

you ?

because there is a problem. rocketleague may need 2gig ram but that doesn't mean netflix can be opened. and you're saying that scale tabbing helps which doesn't help at all.

even if it needs 2gig. u need free ram to run it smoothly. chrome and netflix just take up way too much space

thats why i told him to try it again and do a screenshot from the task manager because with it we would know who is right.

what type of browser are you using? this can be very well a not enough resources issue.
if youre using google chrome, you have your answer. since it just eats away resources for no reason.
i sometimes have this problem with opera browser aswell, and it doesnt matter what site it is, its the video player that starts stuttering, not even lagging, because as soon as you tab out, it instantly keeps going in a fast forwarded manner untill youre at the point where the sound is again.

my specs are ryzen 5 2600, gtx 1070 gamerock and 16gb ram on 3000hz with dual sreen setup.
so to answer your question, yes rocket league might be the only game it happens to, but thats not a valid reason to justify that everything is fine on your end.
like others said, try the task manager and prioritize one thing over the other, but this will lead to less frames in rocket league probably. or try a different browser if youre on google chrome, because chrome really is bad from a usage and power point of view.

I have a 16 core processor, a GTX 1080 and 32 GB of RAM, so my hardware shouldn't be the problem, if you ask me.

Since i do use Google Chrome, i thought about that too, but even if i use the (Windows Store) Netflix app instead of the browser version, the problem is still there (so the problem can't be Chrome, right?).
well i dont think its a hardware issue since my pc should handle it fine aswell, but i think its rather a software issue related to windows, OR the flash player/video player. there is probably nothing we can do about it unless windows gets an update which handles certain multi tak applications better.

it still can be your intearnet connection, you can check that too in the task manager
no it cannot. it has literally zero to do with his internet connection. he could be connected to google fiber and still have that issue. because that issue is related to resources and software. it could probably even happen if he puts a dvd or bluray into his pc while gaming.

Netflix is the only tab that's open, Chrome is minimized, Rocket League is fullscreen.

Btw: Same problem with Internet Explorer, not just Chrome :)

@CharmingRax:
Chrome + Netflix at the same time need ~560 MB of RAM and between 1,2%-2% CPU.
