Report a translation problem
- Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Then delete any other gamepad drivers. Mostly it's duplicates causing the problem so delete the dupes. Right click on any dupes and select Remove Device. {First pic in link shows a dupe}
Also check Device Manager - Xbox Peripherals (Expand) right click on any dupes and select uninstall. {2nd pic in link} [you could remove them all, reboot and then plug your gamepad in.]

Steam and Windows 10 are nutty together. Sometimes I need to update Windows and then reboot, then launch Steam and only then does it update to Steam's most cuurrent version. (When before it showed up to date)
Some people have to mess with some setting mentioned by other posters but you may find this helpful...
