I have seen more people acting like they have skill at diamond rank, lol.

On http://rocketleague.tracker.network a Diamond is shown about 40 percentile.

It's very, very average.

Those who want to 'brag' about their l33t skills need to be realistic here. I am only a diamond 2 and I consider myself, at best, average at this game. In fact the stats are based on people who play regularly so in reality, if you play hours a week, I would say Diamond is perhaps slightly below average.

Average is Silver 2/3 - Gold 1 (2v2)

If you actually look at gameplay, like a saved replay from when we were all bronze, you'd actually understand how much you've grown and gotten better. Its hard to realize it, but even being Gold is much, much better than where we all started out. Very few people are bad at rocket league, but there are people that are matched against higher skilled players which makes them LOOK bad. Right now in unranked im Champion II, so i decided to look at my very first saved replay and i didnt even know how to switch to ball-cam. Believe it or not, id say above Platinum 1, you're beast at the game compared to someone just starting out.

Diamond I and above are the top 10% of ranked playerbase, sometimes even 5% depending on the game mode. If this was CS:GO, that'd be equivalent to Legendary Eagle (or a Distinguished Master Guardian close to ranking up), so it's a pretty decent rank and way above the average Rocket League player, which is probably between Silver III and Gold II.

Plat and Diamond are honestly the ranks for n00bs to be in. They are worse at the game than any other rank. If you don't understand or cannot see that, then congrats, you are one of those people who SUCK.

Top 10% of the player base isn't really sucking...I'm not really sure how a plat feels qualified to talk about how diamond is.

I think this is a very salient point and thank you for bringing it up. Essentially the majority do not even play this game more than a couple hours a week. If you play this game more than an hour a day, or something like that, then I would say Diamond is very average.

Here is an apt description of the current ranking tiers and their respective skill levels:

Bronze-Gold: Noobs
Platinum: Noobs + Braindead Ballchasers
Diamond: Braindead ballchasers + Passive Petes + Toxic Tommys (i.e former Champ-GC-players who've let themselves go)
Champ I-II: Braindead ballchasers + Passive Petes + Toxic Tommys + a few decent players
Champ III: A few Braindead Ballchasers + Passive Petes + Toxic Tommys + a few decent players + a few good players on their way to GC
Low GC: A few Passive Petes + a few Toxic Tommys + a lot of decent players and a few good players
Mid GC and above: A lot of good players.

Ranks don't mean anything - It's just a matter of time, until you reach that specified Rank you want to reach.

The more you play, the higher your Rank will be, usually.
And, as for me, Diamond I is below average, whereas Diamond III Div. IV - Champion I Div. III is the exact average.

The rest is filled with slightly better players than the average ones, Champion I Div. IV - Champion II Div. V.
The rest is filled with much better players, or carried average ones. I can't really tell, as I have practically zero of interest in Ranks.
