With our old crate-system, you had to open god knows how many cases to MAYBE get a black market item, and when you did it usually wasn't even the one you were hoping for. You would spend tons of money and ended up not even getting what you wanted.
This escalated to children burning tons of money on randomized crates, and then another batch of money because they didn't get what they wanted.
Psyonix needed to change something to be able to work within each country's gambling laws and they came up with a system that does this very well.
Yes, things might have changed in the trading world a bit, but as with any other change you'll just have to deal with it.
It's still better than the alternative which is that Psyonix will get sued by multiple countries for god knows how much money.
The kid who opened 20 crates and still not get the item he wanted, still got 20 items in the end and probably multiple good ones. And if it was a lucky kid, he got 19 items he didn't want and the item he wanted.
Now I have to pay as much as for those 20 crates to get the one specific item I want, but I will ONLY have THAT one, nothing more.
It's a complete ripoff. Yes, now it's not a gamble anymore, but on the other hand it's a cashcow. It's like someone asking you "What would you like to have: AIDS or Cancer". I wouldn't want any of these diseases and I don't like gambling or cashcows either. Why not just go for FAIR prices once?
To use your analogy: What would you rather have: aids, cancer or nothing?
Aids being opening crates
Cancer being the new blueprint system
and nothing being you stopping to complain and cry about how ♥♥♥♥ everything is and just dont buy/spend credits to begin with.
Psyonix can't make everyone happy, and if they have to choose between having a few players crying about a change in the item system or getting sued for hundred thousands of dollars by multiple countries, I'm sure they rather deal with some crybaby players. And to be fair, I can't blame them, they did the right thing and I don't mind spending a few credits to get the items that I like, knowing that the profits go to the developers who gave me this enjoyable game.
No matter how Epic wants to spin this they know it's a cash grab and it's a ripoff.
Most blueprints are worthless.
The only problem here is your greed for cosmetics. You can't blame Psyonix for that.
No you are wrong ... what about the greed by Psyonix? 100% greed let's charge a fortune to build these blueprints you get for free. Hope every little people are building blueprints. You pay more to build 1 blueprint than the whole game. It's a joke.
