I imagine the reasoning is because having them seperated between casual and ranked modes would split the player base too much.
there is option to hide rank so you dont see any rank and then just casually play it.
you could find a teammate to play hoops with and just 1v1 each other one match to warm up. or 1 v 1 vs bot.

The only people that wanted this were those who played the modes exclusively because they are desperate to become rocket league stars... Because they don't have what it takes to become pro's in the proper ranked modes.
So because a bunch of small-minded fame chasers think pushing this means they're going to become famous, everyone else has their fun modes removed from casual play... Which is no different to removing them from the game entirely for most casual players.
It's going to absolutely destroy retention rates too because people who searched for a game across a variety of modes are going to have that variety/choice take away, which means people will become bored far more quickly.....
....Honestly, it's just bad in so many different ways, it really doesn't speak well of the IQ in charge over at Psyonix, that they actually had artwork and code and an entire update put out there before they saw what a terrible idea it is.
It gives a tiny audience something they want and takes a huge part of the game away from the majority and basically justifies it by saying 'nobody would play it if we didn't do this thing we know you won't like'.
That's not reasonable and anybody who repeatedly tries to insinuate that it is, is either looking to have a circular argument or is part of the tiny percentage who wants to play those modes exclusivly.
Hoops and Snow Day I can live with, cuz, ya know, no randomized crap over there, but Rumble is a no for me. I'm on the fence about Dropshot, cuz it just kinda sucks by default. xD
