High ping when friends in same match

Basically my friend and his GF are trying to play RL with me (they are in the same house, on 2 separate computers). But if they both join the same match, his girlfriend will get 900+ ping and be completely unable to play.

If they both join completely separate matches, they can play fine. WTF is going on? They can play fine solo, they can play fine at the same time solo, but they just can't both be in the exact same match.

This happens exclusively in Rocket League, the problem isn't happening in any other games we play together. We've tried it in private and casual matches and the result is the same. Any idea what could be going on?
