On a similar note, I disliked Starbase ARC because the map looks stupid and feels uncomfortable to play on, no matter if you win or lose a couple of matches on that, but it still appears on every playlist. I'm questioning the sanity of whoever thought Starbase is any good.
What do you mean?
Makes sense. After all, it's salty
The new map is fine btw.
People just love complaining about new things in this game for some reason. People have complained for just about every new thing since the game's first update.
I'm not asking for it to be removed. I'm just asking how many like it since it seems weird to me that I get to play it every 3rd game or so.
It's nice that Psyonix keeps adding content. Besides, they do it for free with maps, which is a huge plus.
But, they have rarely released a new map without some kind of issues for a reasonably large chunk of the playerbase. Neo Tokyo had that new shape that people didn't like. Aquadome and Starbase had performance issues that were later fixed. Is Farmstead even in the map rotation anymore? The only map they really nailed on release was Champions' Field (correct me if I'm wrong).
In my opinion, this one is way too bright and also, bright yellow (boost) on sand yellow (floor) can be a little frustrating. Also, I'm not really sure but I think I lose a couple of fps on this map, which for me is a huge deal since I play at 30 fps top (yes, my laptop sucks)
It would be one thing if new maps were actually meaningfully different but that hasn't been the case for a long time.
I for one enjoy the new maps. You know who doesnt? People with low-end computers who can't run them. It's not Psyonix's fault that people are KNOWINGLY running RL on a system that cannot handle it.... it's not their job to cater to people who ignore the recommended specs.
You can say you want maps with unique twists, like old Neo Tokyo. Thats fine. But to say they should stop making new ones because people with garbage computers can't run them is blasphemy, especially when the majority of the playerbase enjoys them. The only reason you think the majority don't is because you only ever see people complain on these forums, not like. Forums =/= the entire community.
It'd look real stupid if I went to a Peanut Restaurant and said "Well, I enjoy your non-peanut dishes... but this new dish has peanut's and I'm highly allergic, so can you just stop making peanut dishes all-together so I can come here?" even though a majority of their customers are fine with and LIKE the peanut dishes. Same concept applies.
