controller setup: Do you need boost + slide at the same time?
Been playing RL casual for quite some time now and finally decided to want to get better at it.

So currently I'm remapping my controls, cause some stuff just isn't possible with the default controller setup for me.
I put Air Roll on the L1 button, which feels really weird at first but makes totally sense.

Now I saw that alot of players have sliding on L1 too, but I don't see why. Why not just use the default button (it's X on xbox controller)? I can imagine it would only get complicated, when you would need to boost and slide at the same time, so is that needed in advanced play? (Never slided while boosting myself before, since it doesn't seem to cut the turning time). Any moves that require that? Since then I would need to remap and relearn that new slide button too, while I'm at it :-/

Jump and Boost are fine for me in the default setup, since I got a really large thumb and can press both (or only one) quite fine, so I will use these default settings.

Any more advice from you guys about the controller setup? (Large Thumbs, Xbox 360 controller, only played default settings so far)

Damn, reading your reply leads me to another question:

Do you have index fingers on LB/RB and middle fingers on LT/RT, or do you use index fingers for both buttons on either side?

Until now I only used my index fingers, because when using middle fingers too, it gets really really hard to hold the controller with my large hands :-S
Do I need to relearn that too?

By default air roll and powerslide are on the same button, so it doesnt make sense to split them manually. You cant powerslide in the air, nor can you air roll on the ground. I dont see how it would be akward for you since you are already using L1 as air roll.

That being said, i got baby hands and i have my index on L/R1 and middle on L/R2, whilst the remaining 2 fingers(per hand, i got all 10 dont worry) are holding the controller against the palm of my hand.
Thing is, all you need is to be able to press all the buttons EASILY and COMFORTABLY. There is no right or wrong here.

EDIT: Btw Sausage, you dont need air roll left/right to make a halfflip, just saying :D
