Rubberband 2018
Is anyone else having this issue? If had it for about a week, I've looked at a couple videos and posts online on the issue, but haven't resolved it yet :/ Don't know if having Wifi is that big of a deal and I dont have the option to wire up. Are the devs on this already? Anyone know a possible fix?

If you're suffering packet loss as a result of being on WiFi then other than plugging it in there are limited options.. someone mentioned the powerline adapters that you can get - they work quite well.. I have a couple of Devolo ones basically one end plugs in your router and in to the wall socket and the other end plugs in to a wall socket somewhere else in the property and that plugs to your computer or connect to it by WiFi.

otherwise using the 2.4Ghz range on the WiFi (if available) rather than the 5Ghz could give a better connection as 2.4Ghz travel further and through walls better..

Other options like changing the channel the 2.4Ghz range is using on the router, typically 1, 6, 11 but you could use an app on your phone to see what channels are congested in your area.

Even without packet loss you could get rubberbanding if the ping time is fluctuating significantly, it's quite often better to have a stable ping than a super low one.

You can run a simple ping test to google or something and see the ping times and if there's any packetloss..

On windows I believe you get a terminal (start -> run -> cmd)

and do like

ping www.google.com -n 30
to get a count of 30 pings to google rather than the default 3.

I'm having the same issue, and I can tell you it's not because you have WiFi.

The problem rests solely within Rocket League.
Many of the smoke trails which came out in the last update are either not optimized, or too render-demanding. It's the trails which have the same glowing effect as the "Dab Reaper" exposion.
My game has never had this stutter until recently, and it never has issues, until players using these particular trails show up.

And it's starting to cost me a great deal of ranked games.
I'm not going to bother wasting time on Rocket League until Psyonix works on their game, instead of working on more content to fill loot crates with.

For what it's worth I personally see no issues in-game like tons0phun is describing.

Ping doenst seem to be the issue for me since its most of the time a stable 40.
I've run several ping tests and my ping never goes above 60, i tried with both 2.4 and 5 Ghz. I will try switching channels.

It's wifi for sure. You couldn't use a wired connection through powerline?

You don't ping Google. You ping Psyonix's servers.

I agree 100%, once i bought the new DC DLC ive experienced massive lag spikes in game and its not due to my ping or computer.

You don't ping Google. You ping Psyonix's servers.

You could do, however my idea is really to test whether packets get dropped because of bad connection between the machine and the router. That being the case you could ping the router directly, but I do not explain how to discover the router's IP and go on about that.

From my experience, sometimes packets don't get dropped but arrive very late. Also in my case, problems with the connection don't occur unless you are being bombarded with a high volume of packets, like you do when playing RL. You should run a continous ping test (1000 packets) to google while playing a game and see if you can catch rubberbanding while it's running. When it does, end the test with ctrl+c, and check for packet loss and maximum ping.
wifi = packet loss

Allow me to repeat it, since some of you are just hearing yourselves talking, and not what's been stated.
So here it is plainly:

I played on WiFi, all last season, with no rubber-banding/stuttering problems.
If packet loss was the issue, I would have been experiencing these problems then.
I was not experiencing this stutter in my game whatsoever.

My wifi service didn't change.
My hardware didn't change.
There are no new WiFi devices in my residence.
The only thing which is not constant, is Rocket League, with its last update.
Now, with this latest season and latest release of fluorescent trails and smoke, I am experiencing it often.

None of my other video games, at the time this started occuring, experienced this jitter/stutter/rubber-banding.
Not 25v25 games of Squad.
Not Gangbeasts
Not Killing Floor 2 on highest graphics settings
No other single game in my library has experienced these issues.

Process of elimination, all signs point to RL.

A year ago i was having rubberbanding issues, changed my gaming rig from a laptop(wireless) to a desktop pc with both options(wifi and wired connection) and it fixed the entire problem using wired connection.

This! Tho the occasional rubberband is maybe Pubg.
But I resolved my issue by simply reinstalling the game :)
