Why is dodging in the air in an uncontrollable direction?
Per topic, why is it when you are in the air dodge will go in usually the complete opposite direction to what you are asking?

i know what you mean, sometimes you’re in the air and flip back but you go forward or similar.
if you save the replay of when that happens, you’ll see that it’s not random, has to do to your direction while in the air and momentum you have.

similar to air control and “reversed” controls you need to be aware of the direction of the car relative to the camera and current momentum.
Okay so in the air, say you're flipping backwards (without your dodge) you'll flip 180 degrees to be upside down, but the second you pass that 90 degree mark, the nose of your car will be facing backwards.

Basically if you dodge forwards on your controller/keyboard and mouse, your car will flip forwards to the direction it's nose is pointing regardless of the direction your momentum is carrying you.

Just go into freeplay, and only dodge. Stay on the spot jump, roll your car past that vertical 90 degree turn then dodge in any direction. Do that for a while, then do it with some momentum. Just keep messing around with it til you understand the concept completely because I suck at explanations. Sorry 'bout that. XD

it’s not badly explained, the car always flips to the direction you press, it’s the camera angles of ballcam that fool you. although momentum also plays a part in it, if you flip in the direction of the momentum, you’ll shoot the car in that direction, if you counter the momentum the car stalls.

See that explanation works better. What I was trying to get at was not to orient yourself/your flip based on your direction of travel or the direction of the camera (didn't think to mention that. Lol) but rather on the direction of the car. Thank you for your clarification and addition. :)

Very true, I just remember when I first started, it was primarily going upside down that confused the hell out of me. Spinning was easier to keep track of for me.

Arent you always in the air when you dodge roll? Its always the same physics no matter what just depends on how your car is positioned.
