BTW I am saying the R word, not the N word up there... see their censorship can make it look a lot worse lmao.
because it's mentioned in TOS u should NOT use profanity in chat
https://www.rocketleague.com/tou/
and when u read that wall of text when u started the game at first time, you pressed "accept"
next ban is permanent, just FYI
TL/DR I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ if it's in the TOS, my point is if it's in there it should be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ changed ♥♥♥♥♥♥. To a permachat ban. What is your stance on that?
BTW I bought this game before that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ policy. So do you think it's ethical to change the qualifications of playing years after release? " now we don't want players who demo a lot" is the next step lol who knows. They literally allow something to happen in their game then instead of fixing it they ban the players. This is literally the laziest and most destructive way to solve a non-problem. All of the sudden I am their enemy. good job. Admit it, they don't handle this well... Players first maybe? no i get ripped off my $30 bucks for rules they made up after I spent 600 hours in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game...
Neither of you have read the entire post. So for the future don't bother responding if you haven't
There is no reason to not block the words in chat. There is no reason to not ban me from chat. They choose to take away my game for literally no reason and you guys are like "yeah take that meanie" Like are you even being serious?
To me it seems like their approach is LESS about solving problems, like censoring the nonowords or banning me from only chat would solve all the problems without resulting in one segment of their playerbase basically being singled out as "the enemy" of a game developer they are a fan of, and MORE about seeking some nebulous form of justice against people who swear for some reason...
IMO game developers should be problem solvers that make the game as playable to as many people as possible. Not judging a portion of their playerbase for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ way they happen to speak, and post-purchase restricting their ability to even use the product they paid for and otherwise thoroughly enjoy.
TL/DR There is no reason to alienate anybody from gameplay before chat when the "problems" are apparently solely chat related.
do i think its a good practice? i dont really care honestly. id rather there be no chat than people going off each other the whole game.
by your own admission the devs put a solution in for you. turn off the chat. but you get mad and cant help yourself so you feel the need to turn it back on to go off on teammates. instead try just venting to yourself about how stupid they are and move on with your life. chances are after those 5 minutes you will probably never see them again so does going off on them actually solve anything? do you think they listen to you when you go off on them? are you making them or the playerbase any better by doing so? you arent. so just go off about how dumb they are, or how little awareness they have, then after that game move on and forget about them.
Bro, chat is the first option in the options menu so it takes me less than a second to turn it back on, if i can type a sentence in 2 seconds i can easily turn chat back on in less than one, so how is that a barrier that helps me?
(fast menu control is a skill i got from dark souls exploiting save&exit) ;)
I'm not saying I don't "have a problem" I have a lot of problems lol, maybe this game is a good escape, maybe I don't see why "my problem" has to result in to taking away my game when there are solutions that solve all the problems, mine and theirs, without actually taking the product away entirely without refund. For policies issued months after my purchase.
Maybe I have mild Tourette syndrome? If that were the case ROCKET LEAGUE LITERALLY DISCRIMINATES AGAINST PEOPLE WHO HAVE Tourette syndrome.
From gameplay? When they could choose to issue a chat ban instead? Please explain your position further. I really want to understand the other side.
I am literally asking to be banned from chat and you're like "no u deserve a game ban". You deserve a reality check.
Not to mention there is no context taken into consideration. So if you swear at someone who is purposefully trying to make you swear, they get away with it and you get banned lol. cause they will report you when u do. So i guess I discovered another posible motive for Psyonix poor ban policy decisions, they want to give trolls a real goal to shoot for...
The list will evolve over time to include words and phrases from multiple languages. Here's how it works:"
Me- Including... BUT not limited to racial slurs LMAO Translation: "you don't get to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ know what will make us take your game away we decide what is right and wrong, we are the language police for the entire world apparently"
and this guy at the top tells me to read this article. And there is no list of words. They don't tell you the words. So how is this legal? I literally don't even get to know what I can get my game taken away for saying... They just determine what words should go on the list and do AUTOMATIC BANS lol so you could theoretically discover a new banned word each ban until you lose your game. And have no way of officially understanding you;d be banned for the word beforehand.
Someone explain to me how this is even legal.
What did the terms of service actually say? "we reserve to take your game away at any point in time depending on whether the player types a specific sequences of characters in chat that the player does not have the priviledge of knowing, we just make it up as we go along and it is going to change and more and more words will be added, whatever words we deem unfit, basically out of a hat. Any word that could be conceived as "negative or offensive" by anybody anywhere is the goal" I guess?
I've been playing competitive games online since 2002 and the "old school" argument is no argument at all. You would get banned on the spot if an Admin was present, which depending on the game or server, you could get away with lots of things because there was absolutely no one watching.
Everyone and their mother uses the cliché "freedom of speech" but they don't even know what it means.
"Freedom of speech and expression, therefore, may not be recognized as being absolute, and common limitations or boundaries to freedom of speech relate to libel, slander, obscenity, pornography, sedition, incitement, fighting words, classified information, copyright violation, trade secrets, food labeling, non-disclosure agreements, the right to privacy, the right to be forgotten, public security, and perjury. Justifications for such include the harm principle, proposed by John Stuart Mill in On Liberty, which suggests that: "the only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others."
This game is for all ages, you don't know what impact your interactions with a child will be, Psyonix doesn't want any legal aggravations in their own game because someone decides to be disrespectful while using their service.[/quote]
This is why Psyonix forces you to stop, you have the tools in the game to avoid this kind of situation, not to mention the most basic social interaction skill that everyone has (or should have). The game has a chat ban that happens before anything else, what probably happened is that you over-abused your "freebies" and went directly to the more severe punishments.
"Each word has its own threshold, and once a threshold for any word has been reached, that player will be automatically subject to a ban. These bans will typically start at 24 hours, then escalate to 72 hours, one week, and finally, a permanent ban."

"1. A player is reported for using abusive language in chat while playing an Online Match.
2. Our system scans the complete chat log tied to the match in question.
3. If a player is found to be using language that goes against the Code of Conduct, our system will then remove that player’s ability to chat in matches for a period of time, starting with 24 hours.
4. Players can receive Chat Bans ranging from one day to up to one month.
5. If a player continues to use abusive and harassing language after being Chat Banned for one month, they may start to receive Game Bans instead of additional Chat Bans."
