Banned for 7 days? For chat?
Ya so i call people "♥♥♥♥♥♥" that's just how I talk. When I bought his game I don't remember reading a terms of service that said "no fowl language or Epic games reserves the right to take away the game you paid Psyonix for". Should have offered our money back when you went full PCtards if this is what you're actually resorting to.

I come from old school gaming where it is a part of the ♥♥♥♥ing game, so I think it should be totally fine to go all out free-speech on their ♥♥♥, but I don't even say anything that horrible. I give them advice, then add "♥♥♥♥♥♥" to the end... sometimes lol. So now I'm not allowed to play the ♥♥♥♥ing game? I get a little bit agitated after hours of very very extremely bad tm after another, so I think I do rather well at holding my tongue for what I go through lol. I am a diamond 3 and just trying to rank up with silver tms half the time, so banning people for this long for such small "infractions" if you can call them that, is a little bit extreme when they are harmlessly letting out a little bit of steam. Who the ♥♥♥♥ does it even hurt anyway? I embarrass myself more than anyone else when I lose my temper. I don't say racial ♥♥♥♥. I have some ♥♥♥♥ing class. I just have a ♥♥♥♥ing swearing problem when my blood pressure is up because I am trying as hard as I can in this game that I actually love every part of, except this PC censorship BANNING policy that keeps me from playing.

I turn chat off to avoid getting in trouble lol. But over time i have just gotten faster at disabling it and re- enabling it in a moment of anger or when i finally give up on a match. So I can't stop myself. Maybe give me a permaban from chat first? If all i am banned for is chatting? But no you take away a thing i paid for and have invested nearly 1000 hours into, just trying to see how far I can go and how good I can even get. I don't know of any other "professional" sport that bans competitors for simply "trash talking too hard". So maybe if you really want this to be taken seriously in a competitive way, you don't ban the "athletes" for choosing words you subjectively perceive to be "problomatic". I don't know why social politics is INFECTING even my indie games so hard, but it really needs to be stopped.

This post will likely disappear and I'll be banned from steam discussions too... They are just going to steam my game and silence me lol.

TL/DR You banned me from gameplay to a game I paid for for an entire week for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t PC reasons. A game I sunk a lot of time into to get good at. Either refund me my money or give me a permaban from chat if this is how it's going to go from now on, because I cannot be censored, not even by me(hard as i try), and there was nothing telling me when i bought the game that this would be a BARRIER FROM PLAYING, so whether you agree with my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ personality or not, you should at least realise this is just a game some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bought to occupy his ♥♥♥♥♥♥ existence with some genuine excitement. and I don't deserve this unwarranted discrimination. Someone post this on reddit and help the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s reclaim their games... or something

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-08-03-rocket-league-gets-a-20-word-language-ban-system

because it's mentioned in TOS u should NOT use profanity in chat
https://www.rocketleague.com/tou/
and when u read that wall of text when u started the game at first time, you pressed "accept"
next ban is permanent, just FYI

so ban me from chat. Why the ♥♥♥♥ are they going 2 steps too far and banning passionate players from the game? What does that accomplish? Start with a chat ban should be the policy... which is the ENTIRE POINT of my original post. Not to mention nobody ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reads those. are you seriously dumping this PC Bureaucratic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on me and trying to take corporate PC ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ side? Grow a spine dude?

TL/DR I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ if it's in the TOS, my point is if it's in there it should be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ changed ♥♥♥♥♥♥. To a permachat ban. What is your stance on that?

BTW I bought this game before that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ policy. So do you think it's ethical to change the qualifications of playing years after release? " now we don't want players who demo a lot" is the next step lol who knows. They literally allow something to happen in their game then instead of fixing it they ban the players. This is literally the laziest and most destructive way to solve a non-problem. All of the sudden I am their enemy. good job. Admit it, they don't handle this well... Players first maybe? no i get ripped off my $30 bucks for rules they made up after I spent 600 hours in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game...

Youre banned because RL is rated age for everyone. no room for your toxicity
Gan (Banned) Jul 18, 2019 @ 7:16pm
the point of the post is this. Do you not think they should start with a chat ban, if that is what the issue is?

Neither of you have read the entire post. So for the future don't bother responding if you haven't

Do you think gamers should actually have games they paid for taken away for typing words? When Psyonix literally has the list of words, cause they made it. So they COULD block and censor them and have no issues. But they ALLOW the words to be said, to specifically target "problomatic" people, to take their game away lol. How are you idiots on their side?

There is no reason to not block the words in chat. There is no reason to not ban me from chat. They choose to take away my game for literally no reason and you guys are like "yeah take that meanie" Like are you even being serious?

i mean you could just leave the chat off.........or yknow act like an adult and learn to control yourself in an online game and not take things out on other people who, from the sounds of your post, are on your team......everyone has bad games and gets mad at the game sometimes. the difference is the people who are mature enough to just let it go or say something to themselves, and those who feel the need to go off on others. either way its their game and they make the rules. you can follow them, find a way to make a legit petition to them to make changes, go off on the steam forums where literally nothing will get done, or play by their rules.

do you think this practice is a good one or not bro?

To me it seems like their approach is LESS about solving problems, like censoring the nonowords or banning me from only chat would solve all the problems without resulting in one segment of their playerbase basically being singled out as "the enemy" of a game developer they are a fan of, and MORE about seeking some nebulous form of justice against people who swear for some reason...

IMO game developers should be problem solvers that make the game as playable to as many people as possible. Not judging a portion of their playerbase for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ way they happen to speak, and post-purchase restricting their ability to even use the product they paid for and otherwise thoroughly enjoy.

TL/DR There is no reason to alienate anybody from gameplay before chat when the "problems" are apparently solely chat related.

i mean i literally dont type in the chat other than the occasional message which i dont let be negative. if i get mad at a teammate i might say wtf are you doing out loud to myself. but i dont go off on other people in the game cause its a game. this isnt RLCS, 99.9% of us playing arent going pro.

do i think its a good practice? i dont really care honestly. id rather there be no chat than people going off each other the whole game.

by your own admission the devs put a solution in for you. turn off the chat. but you get mad and cant help yourself so you feel the need to turn it back on to go off on teammates. instead try just venting to yourself about how stupid they are and move on with your life. chances are after those 5 minutes you will probably never see them again so does going off on them actually solve anything? do you think they listen to you when you go off on them? are you making them or the playerbase any better by doing so? you arent. so just go off about how dumb they are, or how little awareness they have, then after that game move on and forget about them.

sounds like you deserve to be banned
Gan (Banned) Jul 18, 2019 @ 7:55pm
you act like it is so easy for everyone, like we all share the same temperament and react the same way.

Bro, chat is the first option in the options menu so it takes me less than a second to turn it back on, if i can type a sentence in 2 seconds i can easily turn chat back on in less than one, so how is that a barrier that helps me?

(fast menu control is a skill i got from dark souls exploiting save&exit) ;)

I'm not saying I don't "have a problem" I have a lot of problems lol, maybe this game is a good escape, maybe I don't see why "my problem" has to result in to taking away my game when there are solutions that solve all the problems, mine and theirs, without actually taking the product away entirely without refund. For policies issued months after my purchase.

Maybe I have mild Tourette syndrome? If that were the case ROCKET LEAGUE LITERALLY DISCRIMINATES AGAINST PEOPLE WHO HAVE Tourette syndrome.

From gameplay? When they could choose to issue a chat ban instead? Please explain your position further. I really want to understand the other side.

I am literally asking to be banned from chat and you're like "no u deserve a game ban". You deserve a reality check.

You guys realise it doesn't have to be a constant flow of insults that you get banned right? You could say the F-word once a week for a few months and if u happen to get reported and banned for it everytime, you could lose your game. iol if you actually understand how this system is apparently working, and still think it's good, you're an idiot...

Not to mention there is no context taken into consideration. So if you swear at someone who is purposefully trying to make you swear, they get away with it and you get banned lol. cause they will report you when u do. So i guess I discovered another posible motive for Psyonix poor ban policy decisions, they want to give trolls a real goal to shoot for...

Article - " As you'd expect, Psyonix declined to make this list public, but did say it includes racial slurs.

The list will evolve over time to include words and phrases from multiple languages. Here's how it works:"

Me- Including... BUT not limited to racial slurs LMAO Translation: "you don't get to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ know what will make us take your game away we decide what is right and wrong, we are the language police for the entire world apparently"

and this guy at the top tells me to read this article. And there is no list of words. They don't tell you the words. So how is this legal? I literally don't even get to know what I can get my game taken away for saying... They just determine what words should go on the list and do AUTOMATIC BANS lol so you could theoretically discover a new banned word each ban until you lose your game. And have no way of officially understanding you;d be banned for the word beforehand.

Someone explain to me how this is even legal.

What did the terms of service actually say? "we reserve to take your game away at any point in time depending on whether the player types a specific sequences of characters in chat that the player does not have the priviledge of knowing, we just make it up as we go along and it is going to change and more and more words will be added, whatever words we deem unfit, basically out of a hat. Any word that could be conceived as "negative or offensive" by anybody anywhere is the goal" I guess?

You literally cannot play the game until you accept their ToS, if you didn't acknowledge it, is your problem. If you sign your name on a piece of paper taking responsibility for something, the argument of "I don't remember reading" doesn't hold for anything.

I've been playing competitive games online since 2002 and the "old school" argument is no argument at all. You would get banned on the spot if an Admin was present, which depending on the game or server, you could get away with lots of things because there was absolutely no one watching.

Everyone and their mother uses the cliché "freedom of speech" but they don't even know what it means.
"Freedom of speech and expression, therefore, may not be recognized as being absolute, and common limitations or boundaries to freedom of speech relate to libel, slander, obscenity, pornography, sedition, incitement, fighting words, classified information, copyright violation, trade secrets, food labeling, non-disclosure agreements, the right to privacy, the right to be forgotten, public security, and perjury. Justifications for such include the harm principle, proposed by John Stuart Mill in On Liberty, which suggests that: "the only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others."

This game is for all ages, you don't know what impact your interactions with a child will be, Psyonix doesn't want any legal aggravations in their own game because someone decides to be disrespectful while using their service.[/quote]

This is why Psyonix forces you to stop, you have the tools in the game to avoid this kind of situation, not to mention the most basic social interaction skill that everyone has (or should have). The game has a chat ban that happens before anything else, what probably happened is that you over-abused your "freebies" and went directly to the more severe punishments.

"Each word has its own threshold, and once a threshold for any word has been reached, that player will be automatically subject to a ban. These bans will typically start at 24 hours, then escalate to 72 hours, one week, and finally, a permanent ban."
https://www.rocketleague.com/news/new-ban-practices-season-4-rewards-update/

"1. A player is reported for using abusive language in chat while playing an Online Match.

2. Our system scans the complete chat log tied to the match in question.

3. If a player is found to be using language that goes against the Code of Conduct, our system will then remove that player’s ability to chat in matches for a period of time, starting with 24 hours.

4. Players can receive Chat Bans ranging from one day to up to one month.

5. If a player continues to use abusive and harassing language after being Chat Banned for one month, they may start to receive Game Bans instead of additional Chat Bans."

This is the practice for every single company since forever. Terms and conditions change all the time for just about anything you can use as a customer and you either accept it or not use their product or service.
