Ranked much higher on a free weekend test account

So i've been in plat 2 - 3 forever in this account , more matches than i would like to think about . I tested my curiosity on a free weekend , played a mere 35 matches .

The game placed me in diamond 1 div 3 and i held that for a while and won matches to get to diamond 3 div 3.

But i'm apparently plat on this account , and the gameplay is slightly different . So there is no explaining how i must grind this account in plat match after match , and a brand new account i'm a couple of wins away from champ ?

Or is this some kind of process a new account will follow to entice a player to buy it on that account then get stomped back down to the low levels ?

I'm confused as i know i shouldn't be in plat , and getting a second account is proof .

That's the point mate i played exactly the same , i believe this account is weighted in plat and as i solo Q ( afk quitters trolls bad mates ) .

It’s a weird one for sure but maybe because you kinda started this new account already at platinum level, and have won a certain amount of games n raised your mmr, you broke into diamond. Especially if you got team with better players this time. Could be roll of the dice or maybe it’s all fixed!! Who am I to know!.

I just had a match in 2s that had a Gold 3 that played like a High Diamond or Champion.......yet somehow they are Gold 3....reported them for unsportsmanship conduct.

They really need to sort out the matchmaking system, it really needs an overhaul due to all the smurfing, boosting that happens........i can handle losing, as well as anyone, as long as it is fair, having a player that is good enough to be Champion shouldn't be in Gold...its just not fair and it can't be considered competitive when the match is so heavily weighted to a specific team for 9/10 matches.

The reason you placed higher on your new account is simple, you had no prior mmr rating which makes it much easier to rank higher off the bat. With soft resets your mmr carries over season to season. If you are a legit Diamond, you will eventually get there on your old account but much slower as you already have a lower mmr and you do not receive the big jumps in mmr per wins or losses that you receive in a fresh set of placement matches. If you are not your new account would eventually fall to your platinum level for the same reason.

Or you could be like me, I am not very good at carrying but i fit extremely well in a team, my play style is mainly support my teammates rather than scoring. (Been working on that) so I have maxed out at high plat and need to be more consistant and work on being more creative scoring wise.

I knew that would happen. I've read many times that stucked people were trying new accounts in LOL, Overwatch and were placed higher, that's because in those rigged games, MM is controlling players progressions by forcing those cycles of streaks. On new account they don't know who's playing and they let placements be more or less legit, after placement they treat that rank as base line and from that place they'll start controlling progression and as you said they make it easier on fresh account. You probably had like 65%-75% winrate, after some time it will be forcing more loses on you, to drop it closer to 50%.

Ranks are BS, it's just a carrot on a stick to interest people in playing more. I experienced 4 ranks in kinda short amount of time, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum. My matches in all those ranks were EXACTLY the same. I had forced losing streaks by being teamed with awfully incompetent teammates, and they were playing EXACTLY the same in all of those ranks, not deserving to be even in a Bronze. My opponents were also playing on EXACTLY the same levels in all ranks, depending on a streak. I could win some and had to lose some, most by forced loses with trash teammates. This is so stupid that, when I was dragged to Bronze in 1 playlist for a while, I experienced completely different kind of Bronze players I knew. I remembered from long time ago Bronze players to be akward and clumsy, I recently played with my friend on his rookie Bronze account and I was passing to myself on a backboard, they couldn't stop it and they were very bad, but those Bronzes I've met on my account recently were doing backboard saves, aerials, not many mistakes, only 1 player was fitting well to this rank and it was that "special" teammate on my losing streak. I was dragged down to Silver in other playlists, and again my opponents are able to do consistent flicks, wall to air dribbles, aerials, not many mistakes, again kinda different Silvers I knew before.

It's all because those ranks don't matter, it's all fake, they have some kind of algorithm to rate our skill pretty well, and they use that, not MMR or rank in MM. They kinda admit it even in game search: "Matchmaking takes up to 2 minutes to consider players of all skill levels", "Trying to find players near your skill". Yeah and that's truth, you can get better and better, raise a bar of your skill, but you will never be too good for the rank, because MM will be giving you opponents accordingly, when they want you to lose, combo of trash teammate + opponents on similiar skill as you, or better, when they let you win, opponents are kinda lower than you, teammate also or sometimes decent to hummiliate opponents. Players of all levels of skill are purposefully misplaced across all ranks to force those stupid streaks.

Any player could be putted in any rank and game would be orchestrating matches for him, to still have those streaks. Game need to let you to advance and on new account you're starting higher, so all that weird things with crazy streaks will start later, because the more you play, the harder it has to be to keep you engaged, but it's BS, that stupid algorithm is tweaked too much, and it more piss off people than make them engaged.

You make up your own mind but zen pretty much hit the nail on the head.
