2 or 3 player splitscreen

I'm fairly new to playing games other than single player. With this game, do I have to play a minimum of 4 player split screen? Is it possible to play 2 or 3 player games? Thanks.

You can play online with multiple people. there are 2v2 3v3 and 4v4 standard modes

If ur by urself, u can play online multiplayer, and there is no split screen.

If u have a buddy beside u, sharing a monitor, then u have to use split screen. That is, if ur playing on console. I'm not sure if steam allows splitscreen.

Thank you. I was curious if I could play with my wife and grandson. Just the 3 of us. I just bought it so I guess I'll find out the answer in a few minutes.

ive played with 3 people split screen on my pc, just get them to join at the main menus and you should be good to go.
but given this post is well dead buried and dug up, im sure they figured out you need to use 3 controllers for 3 players, because if you use a keyboard and mouse the first controller still gets assigned to the first player.
