I've been stalked and swatted so this isn't very funny to me. VPN's are the best way to avoid video game chumps. The notion you can't hide your real address is beyond creepy.

VPNs still work without any problems, must be a problem with your VPN provider. But your hilarious accusations were pretty entertaining :)

This is stupid for so many reasons. The biggest one being that VPNs work fine. I have a VPN enabled at the router level and no issues with anything.

Did you try logging in and out of Steam? I've had issues with activating my VPN while a game was running.
