Is quick chat annoying?
I like to say nice shot and sick or holy cow as compliments, but I just had some (console) teammates who seemed to take it the wrong way when I said "siiick!" after one of them scored. They responded with "okay" and started spamming sick whenever something went wrong and constantly cut in front of me. Needless to say, it was impossible to win after that.

I was the only one who had scored up until that point, so it's not like I pissed them off by playing poorly. I can only assume they thought I was being sarcastic and turned on me.

I don't understand it. Do people use quick chat sarcastically or passive aggressively a lot? Or do some people just outright hate quick chat? I always thought "what a save" and "okay" were the only sassy ones.

I'm fine with Quick Chat when it's about calling kickoffs or nice shot / great pass / thanks. But plenty of people use it simply to attempt to tilt people by spamming 'What a save' when they score and such...

I do not hate Quick Chat itself, but more hate the way some people choose to take use of it.

Sarcasm is by far the biggest use, but the passive-aggressive people who "Okay", when they don't like something are the worst offenders. That's the only thing to annoy me in-game because it adds nothing and just pisses people off.

While I don't need to play with chat on, I do anyway because I like congratulating both sides on good things.

What? Your teammates scored but you're the only one that scored?

"siiick!"
"siiick!"
"siiick!"
"siiick!"
"Chat disabled for 4 seconds"

I was the only one who had scored up until that point. Emphasis on the last part of that sentence.

I had two goals and then my teammate scored, I said sick once, and things fell apart from there.
Yeah, sorry. I was trying be funny...
I agree though, some players just take things too seriously.

Some people keep using it for its purpose.

I seriously doubt it was because you said Siiick! that your teammate became upset. I would guess he was upset because you kept stealing the ball out from in front of him when he went to hit it and maybe on defense you did the same thing and passed the ball right to the other team or lobbed it in front of your own goal. If you never let other players on your team touch the ball they will not score, but they will get angry at you even if your team is winning.

There are both kinds of people: Some (the better part of the community) use the chat to be friendly, saying "Nice shot!" after a goal and things like that. There is, however, a large amount of people who express their frustration with the same quick chat messages, saying that when you miss, spamming "What a save!" after you fail to save a goal and so on.

There are definitely people who immediately just think you're toxic if you use a quick chat message at a wrong time. I can't see why someone would get tilted over a correct use of quick chat, since you only used "Siiiick!" when the teammate actually scored.

Toxic people suck. There's not much we can do about that sadly.
