So if I never touch a loot crate, what is obtainable in this game?

I made the "mistake" of gambling on the first crate i had (yes, its gambling) and got a skin, for vehicle I dont own making my $1.50 basically akin to being thrown in the garbage. Thankfully I had a viewer on my stream make a donation to help recoup that but I have to ask...

Is everything obtainable without these gambling crates? Also if your wondering what i got it is the "jager 619 rs: snakeskin" on xbox one. Thats fine and all but i bought the Esper DLC and this skin is only for this specific car. This game runs on the unreal engine which is PLENTY good enough to skin everything on the fly, there is no engine limitation to have these per vehicle.

So if i never buy a lootcrate ever again (which I wont) am I going to have this stuck in my inventory forever? even if i get this RS whatever im not gonna use it, its why i BOUGHT the esper.

No, you can not get everything without opening crates or trading. Yes it will be stuck in your inventory unless you trade it to someone else.

Psyonix simply could have made a cosmetics shop but they decided on the exploitative gambling system route. Enjoy.

You probably should have looked at the crate contents and seen that there was stuff for specific cars.

There are rare mystery decals that can be applied to any car apart from the batmobile and delorean due to liscencing issues. And the only other way to get crate items is by trading with the community.

Yes it will be, unless you trade it away or trade up 5 of that quality from that crate to a better one.

To be honest the items are only cosmetic and have no effect on the game so if you're that upset about it then it doesn't really matter.

Trading items outside of RL is not allowed, so please don't trade real money or items from other games.
If you don't want to use the trading forum (and only want to rant in general discussion) or any of the available trading sites, you can simply find trading partners ingame.

You are not forced (not even encouraged) to do any shady stuff. But interacting with other members of the community might be necessary if you don't want to spend any money on keys.

have you SEEN ebay? 99% of all the items listed on ebay for rocket league is the loot box crap. so you buy or sell rocket league items which in this case means getting contact info and then getting that person in your party. Ive seen prices upwards of 15$ per item or more. sort of makes me sick when searching for cheap games 70% of the pages are fill with crate items from all sorts of games that get in the mix and makes searching games more of a pain than it already wasl.

mobile gaming and loot boxes made me bitter. Its turned from games to marketing gambling to kids and adults with disposable income rather than actually making a complete experience.

This also means that this isnt a full product, and that a good portion of the experience is locked away even though its already a paid product.

To prevent further ebay related complaints on a RL forum: you can use the minus sign to exclude a word from your search. If your result list is full of rocket league crates, add -crate to your search.

Here's what you obtain if you never touch a crate: you obtain extra money you can spend on additional sixpacks of beer, because you didn't waste it on keys.

(actually, spending it on beer is still wasting it, so bad example, but you get the idea)

Any item you get, including crates, will stay in your inventory until you trade it. I don't care about crates or items that much so usually I overpay just to get an item I want. It's better to get as much crates as possible and trade them for keys (there are guides on crate prices and item's etc.) I never recommend doing anything outside of rocket league, and you can pretty much get every item through in-game trading. It doesn't affect your gameplay at all though, purely cosmetic.

Again,I RECOMMEND only using the trading system on here as it is much safer, and cheaper. Spending money on keys to open crates is just throwing money at the game. If you see an item you want, save up crates and trade them for keys, Eventually you'll get enough keys to trade it for the item you want for free. It might take longer, but you didn't spend $100+ on literally common items from crates haha. That's what I did.

this is better than the rest of the Loot Boxes from other games like CSGO'd, Dota and others on Steam which is infamously rigged. Just keep those crates, spend some keys and use some legit sites from RL Youtubers such as Mr. Tryhard, Sunless Khan and/or Jawbreaker. You'll be happy with that (and some cool stuff, even Limited), to support this game for content and its E-Sports brand. (win-win).

then P.S. dont get scammed from any external trades, third party sites like Aoeah or even the steam trade, just grind and give it a shot for most out of the rewards.

and yes of course, this game is improving alot from BM goal explosions to the new In-Game Market System on Limited Events (Christmas for example). which is also a reason why im buying alot of keys on RL (monthly) to make sure its rivals will follow the system.

in other words, Psyonix will never let anyone down, but they're still in trouble with the controversy regarding Loot Boxes because of the Belgian Ban beat them to it...

I dont understand this selling crates for keys thing... Say you get a few boxes.. can you press a button and exchange a few for keys? I hear on xbox one you cant trade keys so im very confused.

So your trading gambling items, but because it shows what COULD be in it... people will buy keys, and trade them for a box that has what they want to then buy MORE keys to "possibly" get it? wow, i feel very sorry for these people who have gambling addiction... seriously this game has probably ruined a few lives and while that may seem silly it being a simple game that seems super kid friendly im sure its cost some families 1000$'s.

I cant help but think of the psychological warfare it plays on some people. I just cant NOT see this when i look at things like this. Its not JUST cosmetic and not everyone can ignore it. Even being able to hide crates is not a concession.Turning off crates should also let every item droppable in game.

I see sites like this https://rocket-league.com/trading where people are trading items for bunches of keys, which HAVE to be bought in the first place giving them $ value. So if you farm enough crates, sell them for keys and sell off the keys you can make actual money through this weird gambling black market and people still call it "oh its just cosmetic"... seriously?
