Need help with recording settings (OBS Studio)
Hey all,

I've been trying to record some Rocket League, but sadly the quality ends up being quite bad (ESPECIALLY when uploaded to Youtube). I changed some settings that people recommended on forums, but none of them made my 1080p video's look like they should. I think my computer should handle to record at high quality, however I have no clue which settings are good for my specific computer.

Can anyone tell me which OBS Studio Recording settings work for you? (1080p)

If this helps at all
Intel Core i5-7400

I've tried contacting the OBS forums themselves but the advice they give seems not very specific for my computer or Rocket League, it's just not working.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Recordings tab:
Enconder NVENC H.264
Format: mp4
Rate control: cbr
Bitrate 30k (put this down a bit if your comp can't handle it)

Video tab base and output at 1920x1080
fps at 60

That should give you a good quality recording, extra programs you use if you're making a montage or something will have their own settings which may need adjusting, may degrade quality on default settings.
Thanks, but I'm sorry to tell you those are exactly the settings I'm using right now. The video looks pretty good on my computer now, but on youtube (fullscreen) it just looks terrible. It seems youtube rendering my video ruins the quality, and maybe I should aim to make lower quality videos. Would that help out for a better end result? Like 720p instead of 1080p?

I'm not 100% on this but does YouTube allow anyone to upload to 1080p? If it's downscaling the video to 720p that might be why. If it looks good on your pc and not YouTube, then it's not OBS

Yes, but if I check channels like RFX the video's have good quality, even though as far as I know my recording settings are almost maxed. I'm using the settings ''Freestylers are Jerks' recommended me and they are better than my last ones. However, still on fullscreen it looks kinda lower quality but I'm fine with it (as I see other bigger channels also have the same).

No I don't, otherwise I'd use Shadowplay :D

Thanks for all the help, more advice isn't needed.
Sorry for the late response/bump :p
