HAHAHAHAHAHAHA...........no!!
this is in no way accurate the skill level in there is not in any way the same.
B-S1 are everyone who are just learning to jump and hit balls consistencly on the ground or with quick flip.
S1D2-G1 are people who are trying to get on the wall a little and some very short areiels. this is where skill a person can have start to deviate as well. some people start to get really good at the quick ariels and advance that way others will learn the dribbling and others will get better hitting the balls off the wall.
G2-P2 is where the greatest deviation of skills a player may have happens. you get people who can areiel like crazy but can consistently hit a ball are, or someone who can make crazy shots off a wall can clear a ball from above their net to save the game. its a very toxic area here and is often where people feel most confident about their skills and ball chase because no matter what they are better than their teammates because they can pull off some sick play once in every 10 games. in terms of skills people have here the one you need is to be quick and consistent. hesitation/rash decision will screw you in this area and learning to know which challenges you can win or force something out vs ones taht are pointless is the best thing you can learn. and for GODS SAKE learn to hit the ball with PURPOSE that is one of the biggest mistakes people make in this ranking stop hitting th eball just to hit it. You need intention behind your ball. this is where alot of people will become hard stuck.
D-C i have no idea i havent been there yet but you need to basically get a very rounded skill set to get here. rotation in the air and flying up to hit a ball from basicaly any position is what you need to learn to get here, also good judgement and that is very hard to learn.
Well, I wouldn't say "you suck" but why do you think that just playing is going to make you that much better. Yes, I think that as you play, unless you enjoy getting destroyed, that you do get better by observing, mimicing, and practicing, but there's no set in stone equation that ties skill to time played in any way.
I have 2000 hours played and I'm roughly gold solo and somehow got to platinum for groups (my one and only group where I got invited by a duo that wanted a third for a while). I've played WAY more unranked than ranked since I just play to have fun, it's just that often the only way to get a competitive game is to play ranked since the matchmaking for unranked is all over the place and I get about as much enjoyment out of thrashing noobs 10-0 as I do getting thrashed by the uber ranked 10=0.
I'm always trying to improve and I've improved over all my time with the game but I still treat it as a casual and fun thing where most of my development comes from playing matches.
If you really want to get better at the game faster you need to practice in a more structured way and study the better players/teams more - the same way a pro athlete at any sport would have to do. Do you just wanna play pick up hoops with the fellas and own your buddies or are you tring to get a college scholarship or make it to the NBA kind of thing.
I've watched some of the twitch tourney stuff and the majority of super high tier players are teenagers and they undoubtably do a ton of structured practice as a team and individually to be that good. Those players are so out of my league that I can't even fathom ever playing like that. And i'm ok with that too - I still love the game. Kinda like I loved playing basketball before I got old with bad knee, but I was never going to be in the NBA.
I think what a lot of people have a problem with is they come from playing FPS where they got near the best in not too much time. RL though is compleatly different from other games. A few can make some great strides fast but for most it's a much slower climb. Myself included. Skillwise I'm on the level of people that have half my hours. Lately though I do feel like I'm breaking through another layer.
I see your difference of opinion here but still what I say is based off of my experiences. I see Bronze and Silver making air shots more than any Gold or Plat player. I find more challenge at the Bronze and Silver level compared to the Gold or Plat player. Based off of my experiences this debunks the rating system, or at least effective or meaningful MMR. But that is based on my experiences.

I still respect what you feel like it is, sorry we can't see eye to eye.
OP is asking what you're saying here pretty much, why does all his effort and time seem meaningless as he is still trying and still plateauing. No pain no gain, I can understand that, but taking the pain for no gain = time to quit? What is the point of a game that has already been decided for you, RL saying he is stuck at that level and even with more time and effort he will remain. Based on his current and past this is the answer but he doesn't like it.
What are his options then if he wants to get better position in the ranking system? Albiet if he only knew how shallow and broken it really was as it actually holds no real value, nah I guess he would still want to do it still.
It's a good question, I imagine a lot of players feel the same.
This is a cop out. I can carry about 95% of my games at gold level and about 75% at plat with teammates missing easy goals. The skill gap between someone that should be plat and someone that should be gold is big. Gold is average. Just like the skill gap between plat and diamond.
With these skill gaps you need to be able to carry yourself through the previous rank. IF you can't do that you will get demoted fast.
Gold is an average rank. It stands to reason that the most amount of players will be that rank. You're average.
Gold is the new silver bro. MMR has been redistribued. You are where you belong untill you are ready to move up. :)
