Smurfing and boosting will happen regardless though, It just will. And in a way, I don't really blame poeple who do it. It's a competative system, it will be abused by players who consider the 'top' the only place to be seen.
My issue, with all of this, is what happens to the Boosted as they get dropped from the top. They come crashing down through the ranks after finding out that they can't actually play the game and then drag every poor innocent hard working, team playing 'just in it for an hour before the pub opens' guy back down to silver after they patiently grafted a slow grind back up to gold.
THATS what sucks.
I can't win games with a teammate, if my teammate is adamant he don't want a team mate.
Takes all the fun out the game that does.
thats what iam talking about! that is what is manipulating rankings... just so this boosted guy can say he is a champ kaliber player... than he cant even hold his ground in bronze... after his crash the next season starts and his buddies drag him back up on their smurf accounts... all the way into the higher ranks... and the cicle of system manipulation beginns again...
the thing is... more and more REAL players who just want a nice competitive experience are quitting playing ranked... and when this continues a lot of them will stop playing rocket league alltogether... :/
i guess its rly limited but thanks for looking it up... and sharing... :D
and @joviper... man its not that someone is looking for excuses why someone lost... i for my part dont care... but it is frustrating that cheating... and bending the rules is such an down played and overlooked topic in this community... the same exact thread on the same exact topic would have supported my concerns by a majority on almost every other competitive game! look how many pubg players get perma banned for what reasons and now show me one who got in rl? ;) if he earned like a couple thousends by boosting... he will not care if his season rewards are in his virtual garage or not ;)
Then we can start talking about the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ban system that most part of the times ignores context and just bans you from the game, instead of muting you.
And theeeen in the end we can finally talk about smurfing, which is the less relevant problem in this game.
Sorry, it should no longer be private now.
you are absolutly right... but the smurfs/boosters are kind of the result of psyonix inability to fix the ranking and matchmaking system as well as the lack of stand they take against these practices... i allready said it would have been better to name this thread differently... broken ranking system is used to support unsportsman conduct :D
solo queing under this conditions is a suicide move at times... i feel you...
or maybe this guy was not a tipical plat I player? would be nice to see a replay of this game... it could give some clues if something was fishy or not... if you lookup litharis stats you will notice that he has a ton of games in the gold leagues... witch means that there is a high chance he saw the best and worst gold-ish players come and go... and has much more experience to have a feel for the skilllevel of this leagues ;)
its fascinating anyway how many post here with little to no matches in their tier and try to tell you they dont saw a smurf... thb you cant say that wenn you played like 25 games in a game mode... but when you play like 200 or 500 matches a season in a league... you pretty much saw it all skillwise in your league and are much more qualified to identify a smurf as someone who just played a couple of matches here and there and maybe got lucky getting cued with acctuall players in his tier ;)
I agree. My friend and I playing 2s together (dia 1 and dia 2). 7 of 10 matches are against teams with a plat 1 (or 2) and dia 3 or (champ, sometimes). The most funny thing: The higher ranked uses salt banner and the plat player gc banner or gc wheels.
Ranked is totally fuc*ed up
Yes, it's not impossible, are people cheating right now? Nope.
Does that stop people from calling others cheaters when they lose? Nope.
I'm not saying the booster has no incentive to do it, I'm saying the guy paying for the boosting is the idiot in this situation, he's not getting the rewards and yet he's paying for fake boasting.
Also, you're completely overestimating the amount of money people make from boosting.
That's not a smurf, that's a boosting team.
how do you know ppl are not cheating? its not like they will tell you ;) nor will psyonix... would ruin der rep...
so you are telling me that a thief is moraly right cause the guy who gave him the job is a nutcase by paying him too much? what kind of morals are these? so a booster is a genious scamer who should be praised and its validated cause he found someone dumb enough to pay him for a fake rank?
and when he is deranking cause of his lack of skill its ok that he drags his mates down who try to have a fair and competitive game of rocket league? and that the booster had nothing to do with the result of this situation? :O
than again iam estimating their income from the prices of the sites... when i see they take like around 700 bucks for a full boost from bronze to gc and i dont see the sites going down and thier counters of views are pretty high for a rl site you tell me all the ppl just take a quick look and dont use it? thats some strong astimations with very little data...
how do you know what they earn? are you friends with them or you just guessing?
and a second account should be against the rules... in no competitive enviroment is it possible to play for two teams... imagine a world class athlete in any sport would causualy compete in lower leagues just for the fun of it... or a fast runner cant run the same race for two nations and so on ;) its not what competitive is about...
at least the placement matches should count for both accounts and they should be linked so a gc cant get placed in gold even if he looses all of his rank in matches on his fresh second account...
finally its maybe not against the rules... but its unsportsman condact at its finest ;)
yes exactly... :D i even saw champ banners in silver when i was watching my friend play... iam shure its not a smurf... right? he just got that much worse over the course of a season... or he was not boosted... he had just a bad day and deranked all the way into silver... right? thats what the ppl say when they abuse this system themselfes ;)
it is f'd up and psyonix is just covering up their tracks and keeping a low profile about those issues... :/
That's a fine strawman you're trying to burn there.
What sites? How do you know their view count is not a scam as well?
I don't, my guess comes from the forums and steam profiles trying to advertise their boosting services for around a dozen keys or so...
Although the game mode is called "Competitive", you're not actually participanting on the olympics because of it, you know that right? Your analogy is the same as your previous estimations, full of over the top bs.
Maybe, but it's nowhere as big of a problem as you're trying to make it look like.
what has your strawman analogy to do with anything? you did not engage in the argument... you just dismissed a valid point by making fun of it...
good points on the sites... i dont know... but their existence and lack of care from psyionix is worse enough... point is every dime they make from this site is an insult to all fair players...
what is the difference? its a competitive GAME... as EVERY other GAME in the world... soccer, tennis, athletics... proffessional or not... its the competitive spirit that counts... and that gets draged into the mud with this kind of ethics... ;) no SPORT changes the big problems in our world... so none of this matters in the face of death or starving ppl... so if you dont care if someone cheats or boosts or smurfs its ok... thats your pesonal opionion... but if you try to make ppl look silly cause they have ethics and want to discuss a issue to tackle the problem its only a deflection... why do you try to downgrade this problem? cause its not an issue for you?
when you dont care... why do you take part in that discussion? so i guess you do care... but the only logical conclusion following your train of thought is that you want to silence the constructive and valid critisism that some of us are bringing up ;) or what reason do you have to deflect this issue you dont care about?
