High ping, unplayable.
Over the past week I physically haven't been able to play this game as I get 130+ ping. Every other game I get around 30 and I have a dl speed of 200 and an upload of 20. I've made sure my server selection is Europe and nothing else I do fixes it. Any ideas?

Yeah I can't do anything about it, and it's only been the past week or so, just played a cs match to make sure it wasn't my ping, and got like 40 ping.

I have the same problem. For the past week I've been getting an average ping of 130 in EU servers. It's impossible to play like that.
And solution yet?

Maybe look at this... Idk i found this in the pinned topic, might get you started in solving the issue. :)

"Psyonix, fix your servers!"

Don't fall into the trap of thinking that because a few of you grumbled at once, that "everyone is lagging". That just means you've found a few people who need to fix their own issues. If I'm seeing no problems -- if *anyone* is seeing no problems -- the region's servers have no problems. There is no way that servers can give perfect service to me and bad service to you. What's more, it's many servers per region, so they can't conspire to pick on you and not me.

Different games have different polling rates, and the code that makes a FPS work is not the same as the code that makes Rocket League work. Don't assume that because you play Overwatch without any issues that this is proof that RL or the RL servers are bad.

I've had problems before. I know how frustrating it is to have an issue and feel like it's beyond your power, but you have to put the time in the find out what the problem is.

It ought to go without saying, but when you're trying to track down the issue, you need to pick a time when others in your household are not trying to download massive files or watch HD streaming video or anything like that.

1. BASIC ROUTER CHECK

Open Command Prompt (Windows key + R, type in "cmd" without quotes), and type in:

ipconfig

That last IP number (four numbers separated by single dots) is the IP of your router. It might be 192.168.1.0, or it might be slightly different in the last figure. Mine is 192.168.1.254, for example.

Now type in:

ping [your IP address] -t

(or whatever your router's IP address was shown to be - I would type "ping 192.168.1.254 -t".)

A test will run. Let it go for a couple of minutes, then hit ctrl + C to stop it. At the end, it will give you a few lines as a report, telling you what percentage of the packets it sent were lost.

What's your result? Mine says 1ms on almost every result, with the occasional few that say 2ms or 5 ms. At the end, it said 0% of packets were lost and my average was 1ms. If that's not what you're seeing, you have a problem. Your average might be slightly higher than mine but if it's not pretty low, and if your highest result is more than 100ms, attention is needed.

If you're using a cable connection and there is a problem, try a different cable. Do this even if that cable was working fine last week -- a day comes when those things degrade, and the day will always come suddenly. It's annoying to spend hours over your problem only to find most of that time was wasted because the answer was something really crude.

2. TRACE ROUTE

Open Command Prompt (Windows key + R, type in "cmd" without quotes), and type in:

tracert google.com

This will run a ping test to Google (we could have used any URL or IP address, but Google is a reliable constant) and show you the time taken to reach each node along the way.

Run the test a few times. You should see a fairly even set of times, hopefully all under 25ms. Mine are 1ms to the router, and then all are between 7ms and 12ms. If you see results in the hundreds of milliseconds, you have a problem in one or more of the following: your PC, possibly your cable if you use a wired connection, your router, or with your ISP's service. If they're all low numbers but a single bad result happens at the same point in the journey every time, your ISP can help you with that routing issue.

3. CHOICE OF NETWORK

My last line gave me two options to connect via wifi: one called "[network name]", the other called "[network name]-5G". Of course I thought 5G would be the best to use, but it turned to be a mess with RL. I set it to non-5G and forgot about it. Then one day, a Windows update must have reset my preferences about which network to use, but I didn't know. Terrible ping, terrible rubberbanding. When I discovered it had changed to connect automatically to 5G, I set it back again. No problems.

4. SOFTWARE USING THE NETWORK

Another time, I got a new Samsung phone and tried out its helper software, SideSync. It seemed to be really useful for me, because I work with audio and have headphones on. I often miss calls, texts and other messages. This software gave me notifications on my PC screen, but it played merry hell with RL. It was creating the equivalent of jitters in the network as it made interrmittent communication checks. I uninstalled the software, and sure enough, no problems. (I probably could have just stopped it from opening on start-up, but I decided I'd rather not be in doubt).

Any application that uses your internet could be a problem. Use Resource Monitor (a built-in Windows app), check the Network pane, and see what's happening. If any app is constantly lighting up with Sent data, search the process name online to see what it is. If it's not essential, find it in Task Manager, right-click to End Task, and then see if it's made a difference. While it might be tempting to shut down a ton of things at once, if you don't check RL itself after each termination you won't know which one was a culprit.

NB - do not End Task for anything called Steam, System or svchost.exe [/quote]

Mine just went away on it's own after a couple hours

speedtest, ping router check are fine. Some servers have ping higher than others. This did not happen in the past. Perhaps Psyonix is doing some work to improve its servers, trying to resolve the weekly "servers down"

I think you need to specify how much 20 is cos if its kbs then you have no wifi

Firstly this was created a year ago, why are you replying? Secondly, clearly it was in MB/s, as nobody would use a 200 kb speed to play online, thirdly I was using an ether net cable (wired connection), and like I literally stated in the post, it went away on its own after a few hours, it was a server sided issue.

This is just straight irrelevant, why does it matter for how long this thread has been up for?

Well where do I start. Unless you play in some sort of facility that requires fast internet (ie government agency, school, university) there's no way you have a 200 MB/s (note, MB/s is different than mbps, which is probably what you meant, but decided to act like a smartass anyway by saying "clearly"), also playing online with 200 KB/s (assuming that's what you mean when saying "kb speed") is totally viable, considering I'm on a same connection (270 KB/s to be exact) and have no problems with ping whatsoever.

Using 200 KB/s would ♥♥♥♥ up any online game you play, sure the ping may be fine but a minimum of 1-2 Mb/s is honestly what anyone needs, and I'd hate to be you when it comes to downloading or streaming, seriously did it take like 2 days to dl rl?

i am from middle east my ping on the middle east server is between 150-230 and my ping in the eurbean server is about 300 without any reason my download speed is about 5mps and my upload is very good too and in the other games my ping is excellent but just in rocket league my ping is ♥♥♥♥
