What was the point of Mita changing the room layout?
Was it just to have fun or is there an actual reason?

I have a headcannon that the game was originally having all rooms next to the living roomm, then the four-in-a-row layout was created for the newest versions of the game.

So, Mita's just reverting to the original home layout. Or maybe she can't actually rearrange the rooms but she moved MC to a house created in the old format.

Your call if Mita's just doing it for her own comfort or for the player's comfort. And if the latter, if she's doing it because she thinks the player is familiar with older versions, she just thinks it's nicer, or because MC has secretly been a cartridge for a long time and Mita thinks the player will me more comfortable with the layout the cartridge was created in.

Or in the case where rearranging is impossible, if Mita is moving MC closer to the core so he can 'escape'.

One possible reason is she was trying to better hide the door to the basement. Just a guess though.
Because it doesn't make sense to have to walk through a bedroom to get to the only bathroom. What if you have guests over? I once looked to rent a room that was connected to a bathroom and they said 'Yeah sometimes people will need to go through your room to get to this bathroom' and I said no way.

I think she's just trying everything in her power to appeal to you in some form, to make you accept her, she is probably just desperate at that point, that's what I think anyway.
