The Subtitles Suck

Can we please petition to update the games subtitles? I’m hearing impaired and it’s so difficult to follow the subtitles because either you have text box subtitles with pink font on a purple background and a font size that’s too small (not to mention to put the new lines on dialogue above the previous line instead of reading the normal top to bottom format and it’s just super unintuitive. I cannot think of a single reason why someone would do that or want to read that direction) or you used the over animated subtitles that are super inconsistent in size and placement which is overall distracting and hard to follow. Sometimes the animated subtitles are somehow even smaller than the text box subtitles! The dialogue also just automatically advances no matter if you’re ready or not and to have to speed read text that’s super hard to ready while also hearing someone speak in a different language the entire time. It’s just way more difficult that it needs to be for what feels like it just there for the sake of looking cool while removing a lot of the functionality which is arguably more important lol

This might not make sense to people that don’t actually require subtitles but accessibility in subtitles is extremely important to those with hearing impairments because with hearing loss your brain has to over compensate for the difference which is actually why studies show people with untreated hearing loss are significantly more likely to develop dementia. There are guides online on how to make subtitles more handicap friendly. ❤️

I bet most of the people playing this game actually require subtitles on account of not speaking Japanese or Russian. Or the languages that now have fan dubs.

Also, game has a chat log in the menu if you miss something or want to look back at the conversation.

I had no problems, but everyone's a lil different and its such a neat experience I hope it gets added in the future for y'all

You can set up the subtitles so that they show up at the bottom of the screen

Current subtitles are one of my favorite parts of the game.
Please don't change them, there's so much depth to the way they appear, it's a work of art.

I already mentioned how with certain disabilities it can take more concentration and brain power to follow subtitles which can actually cause early onset dementia. There’s no reason to not add more accessibility option just like there’s no good reason to be an ableist ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

I can’t afford the game personally (just got laid off unfortunately like many other people rn) but noticed the issue while watching Markipliers playthrough and figured I should mention something. I can’t test that mod for myself to know if it’s more handicap friendly but hopefully it is an acceptable option for those that need it in the meantime. The developers should issue an update with more accessibility options regardless to be mindful of all players so they don’t have to seek out mods for themselves
