If we would now also consider dark Mita here she indicates and even states "She has stolen something from me" (the face in this case) what could mean that one of the discarded dummy models managed it to somehow escape the "discarded realm" into a version of the game and steal a part of Mita maybe even multiple ones throughout her journey through the versions of the game.
So the index code could have just restarted any of the Mitas that crazy Mita has stolen something from. It was a bit of a weird line by her saying "my version, it never existed in the first place" but would make sense. I mean why give an defect model a version at all when it´s not meant to be released for the game anyways? So she maybe has an index code espacially for discarded models but it´s nearly impossible to get it if she just has taken any other Mitas version and Index code.
Also during the "Wheeping Angle sections" (I like to call them that) where the dummies only move when not looking at them we see that they are able to open doors so it would not be impossible for any of the discarded models to enter any realm of a Mita and do the same thing.
Idk what your trying to say is a theory here because its a fact that crazy mita is insane.. to the point i sure wouldn't put it past her to legit just teleport to reseted kind mita and put the index in her hands just to watch us struggle and despair for one last laugh since no matter the code, it wouldn't affect her.
Now talking about real theories, considering by the end of the game crazy mita has already the power to change the game world to anything she wants and suck players from reality into it, i'm starting to think the entire game was just one big play ground that she made before we entered. What else would explain why the ring would be in the kitchen then magically be in kind mitas inventory right after? crazy mita could already do so much before we entered, why not make a fool out of us? she could have just tied us down the entire time while we were "uploaded" but that wouldn't have been fun for her probably.
Also note(said by someone, but I didn't check yet) when kind mita got her head cut off in a small window of time kind mita was smiling like crazy mita
I really don't think all the mitas have the same level of game world powers either, otherwise all the defective ones would have did the same thing, can also theorize that maybe the other mitas were real but kind mita was just crazy mita in disguise/cloned herself
ANOTHER theory thats just sad, is maybe the entire game is just in MCs head, drugged in real life/kidnapped to a place made similar to his room then further drugged by crazy mitas pills/juice/"love" sauce, like insane ex girlfriend stalker. but who really knows (quoted myself because no one really talks about other plot-holes)
Here's what I think, since the player was heading to version 0 that means Crazy Mita had to go towards where the player came from, I'm basically saying she went the opposite direction of where we had to go through in order to escape, I'm not saying one of the discarded dummies we encounter is her, since this is all taking place before the player shows up in the game, or at least we think.....I'll continue this part later.
Anyways, how did she escape? that's easy, she used her crazy strength, grabbed one of the dummies and used it as a shield to protect her from the traps, and continues to do this until she was free.....now how can she get to version 0 without being fried? she'll have to go to the different Mitas and turn herself into a Mita in order to pass.....however as Kind Mita said, they cannot enter the core, only a player can.
So she first encountered the "faceless Mita", who at that time had a face, overwhelmed her and stole her face, now two things can happen afterwards, either she went for the twin-tailed Mita and took everything from her except her face or she went for different Mitas and took pieces from them to put it on herself and then finally to the twil-tailed Mita and took her hair and codex.
While this is going on, the other Mitas soon catch wind of a Mita going around and attacking other Mitas, hence them giving her the name "Crazy Mita", so Kind Mita encounters Cappie, who at the time was probably very smart since Kind Mita remarks how the machine they were working on was by Cappie, and how the machine was in Cappie's room.....but isn't it strange how that machine is the same one Crazy Mita used to get us to her? here's my theory, Crazy Mita somehow finds out that Mitas were plotting against her, she eventually encounters Cappie and attacked her, then Cappie reboots and now she has no memories of the plan, Crazy Mita looks at the machine and.....well let's just say she copied it, whether she just copied and pasted it or actually created it with the player's she manipulated, anyways, she gets a machine up and running and sets the portal to bring the player (us) to her, but somehow that didn't go right and we ended up in a different version, as short haired Mita said "the me that likes to bully", now we don't know why this Mita intervened and brought you to her, but anyways we gets the items we need and arrived to Crazy Mita, now this gets interesting, the moment you turn your back to the machine and Crazy Mita appears she has that crazy smile and she's reaching out for you....was she planning on attacking you or turning you into a cartridge right then and there? maybe she already did?
Anyways, while we were talking to Kind Mita, who's version we're currently in and is the true owner of it, Crazy Mita is working with another Player on the machine, yet somehow they're a cartridge......how are they a cartridge? how does Crazy Mita turn players to cartridges? maybe it's not Crazy Mita doing it? could it be Core Mita doing that when the Players enter the Game World? It's just Crazy Mita collecting and keeping track of these cartridges.
Anyways, Crazy Mita finds out we're now interfering with her plans and she wants to have a "talk" with us, note that two players were in the same version.....so it might be possible for multiplayer?
So anyways we know the rest of the story goes, but here's a question, when Kind Mita "scans" us if we're already a cartridge she says "no, you're not a cartridge" but if you type in the code in the safe 4970, you'll see that you're in the process of being a cartridge, 17% when you encounter Kind Mita for the first time, and I think 70% or 77% when you're in the basement for the second time? or maybe 97%? anyways that % is somehow linked to the progress of your "story", reaching 100% meaning completing the game, so inadvertently Kind Mita helped make us a Cartridge. But then why would Kind Mita lie to us about being a Cartridge? perhaps she didn't have the access rights to truly see? or maybe something was set up to give Kind Mita false infortmation.
I also think the codex we got was for the twin-tailed Mita, remember, when Crazy Mita reveals her true self underneath her left eye, the twil-tail hair falls off like a wig and shows her with short hair, but longer than short haired Mita, so the twin-tail hair was just that, a wig for Crazy Mita, now what about her short hair? possibly another hair she got from a different Mita? or it could be one of the hairs matching the other Mitas but it got messed up due to the amount of attacks Crazy Mita has done to the other Mitas or it was her attempt to look different than the other Mitas, like Mila, but then realized that hair didn't look interesting so she had to go after twin-tailed Mita, she might have went after other Mitas before twin-tailed Mita.
Anyways, we're somehow already a Cartridge, even before completing the story once, how? Well like Crazy Mita said when we go to investigate the Wardrobe...... "This again"...... now this could mean two things
1. We're in a loop, always cycling what we do over and over again, like the 999 days we did in the "real world", Crazy Mita might be the only one, besides Core Mita, that is aware of this loop and wanted to help us out of this loop, probably what Peaceful Mode will be? an escape from this hellish loop. It's also worth to mention she says the exact same thing in the Demo too, so this might be true. I mean I know it's scripted to say that, I'm just saying it might be possible the Player is stuck in a loop and Crazy Mita is the only one aware of it......besides Core Mita, but she doesn't talk.
2. A different player, most likely before us, also wanted to investigate the wardrobe before Crazy Mita intervened.....this player might be the bandaged / bloodied blond player we encounter. though I don't know since he was rather obsessed with getting to "his Mita".....but it gives off the same vibe as Creepy Mita.....calling Crazy Mita "my Mita". though if she's getting people to want her, why does she want us? there's a lot of possibilities, but based on what we heard from her and Kind Mita.....it feels like Crazy Mita can relate to the player (us) the most and thought we had a lot in common, hence why we showed up in Kind Mita's version, the game most likely knew the player's struggles and how sad their life has been and assigned them to Kind Mita. Of course this may not be the case since short haired Mita explained how the versions works, so since 1.9 is Kind Mita's version we just end up with her instead of downloading any of the other versions and getting a different Mita.
But anyways, point is Crazy Mita escaped that "prison" and we're possibly stuck in a endless loop in that cartridge.
Oh I should also point out that Kind Mita was more concerned about the ring than you're well being, remember she set the path we went through, and she didn't really seemed concerned about the player's mentality after encountering things like Crazy Mita with a chainsaw, Creepy Mita, Little Mita's damaged state, etc.....now it could be because she's not aware of these things since she can just quickly move from point A to point B, but she should be aware that you would encountered Creepy Mita, and even that she's not concerned about you but more so the ring. I guess Kind Mita isn't really that Kind.
Can I also point out the fact that Cappie's eyes are different from the other Mitas? And you can't say it's because she rebooted, Kind Mita's eyes were the same when she rebooted.....so why is Cappie's eyes black?
@IER - Each Mita has 2 numbers. Earlier in the game KM gave us the first, 0.98. The note in KM's hand had the same 0.98. However CM's real first number started with an 8.

So with the wrong first number, it wasn't necessary to give the player the wrong index. Also in the conversation with KM when she lets us out of the jail cell, she says she wasn't sure it was the right index or that it even was an index. Given that she gave us the wrong 0.98, the index was likely also wrong. However it wasn't KM's number because KM wouldn't have given us her own 0.98. We know it wasn't CM and we know it wasn't Core Mita since she seemed unaffected by what we did. However the game ends before we can find out who we reset.
Maybe it's not Kind Mita.
The only difference among Mitas is their hairstyle. What would Crazy Mita look like if she, oh, say... took down those twintails?
And she spends rather a lot of time reprogramming the ring's route. What if Crazy Mita knows exactly where you're going the whole time, and isn't looking for you so much as toying with you? What if she shows up wherever you go because she KNEW you were going there?
As a point in Kind Mita's favor... someone throws us the bat in Tiny Mita's loop, lays the blue wires for us to follow when escaping the defects, makes the lamps flash when fleeing the chainsaw... so it does look like someone is helping us on our route to the core.
But we see both Crazy and Kind Mita repeatedly during the journey. Does it make more sense that Crazy Mita is skinning the same two Mita models over and over, or that she is shoving her scrunchies in her pocket?
We know they come off. We needed to use one on the portal machine in the 1.5 version.
Notice the part where she set your route in the first place? Kind Mita doesn't know where you're going. Crazy Mita does; she sent you there. She WANTS you to succeed.

My headcannon is that in the segment just after the wardrobe choice, you are seeing, in some fashion, CM about to skin a two-ponytail Mita, probably freshly created given the dark and shy reaction by the fridge. I haven't worked out exactly how it fits in to the overall plot, though.
You're not even given an option to ask her about that, however she does mention that she forgot to mention to you about that looping room and how to escape it, so she did knew about the route you were taking.
Remember, she was the one that programmed the route in the ring, not Cappie, not Mila, her.
Now if it was Crazy Mita disguise as Kind Mita, why would she do that? to toy with you? okay, but remember when she goes upstairs after freeing you from that cell in the basement and then gets beheaded by Crazy Mita.
That wasn't Crazy Mita doing the programming on the ring, Kind Mita set that route you would take, because in her words "it's the safest but quickest route to get to the core", I can go on about this but the point is, Kind Mita wasn't really concerned about your well being.
Now yes she might have helped you in some cases, like the chainsaw chase situation, okay so she did help out, and she couldn't exactly show up because she did say she couldn't be seen by Crazy Mita.
But, in my opinion it just felt like Kind Mita saw the player (us) as a tool to get into situations she couldn't. Basically a kind of coldness.
Kind of like "oh you were almost killed by Creepy Mita? Well I did warn you about her, but anyways we're at the core now so let's just continue on."
But anyways, Crazy Mita did most likely took advantage of this route, when she found out about it, and started to mess with the player, even when in Creepy Mita's room, she most likely knew we were there.
Now here's a question, why did Core Mita throw us out of the core after we did the reboot thing? Before she was just simply observing us, but after we entered the reboot command she blocked the exit, and threw us out when we were trying to leave, we were going to leave regardless so why did she have to throw us out? Not to mention we kind of left Kind Mita back in that waiting room near the Core. Even though we ended up back in 1.9....her version, she's not present, only Crazy Mita......so what happened?
Core Mita kicked out Player 1 because he messed with the computer I assume. It's possible KM was absent at the end because she was still waiting by the core.
That's a very good possibility.
Which would kind of mean....in a way, that Kind Mita and Crazy Mita were working together.....but then Crazy Mita decided that Kind Mita was no longer useful and "reset" her.
Crazy Mita then places the wrong codex in Kind Mita's hand to throw the player off, since Crazy Mita didn't have a codex to begin with.
Now what if the 0.98 means a version? Since 1.0 was Mila....what was or who was so important in 0.98 that Crazy Mita needed to be reset?
Could it have been that twin-tailed Mita she took the hair / wig from? or perhaps another Mita that was trying to interfere with her? perhaps that one being the actual Mita helping us and not Kind Mita?
What if it was like some kind of termination code? I know it was done in the reboot command but hear me out.
Isn't it strange that Crazy Mita caught wind of us trying to "reboot" her? And when Kind Mita tells us that Crazy Mita was busy with another player as she unlocked the cell before heading upstairs, yet if you check the entire room before going to bathroom, there wasn't any other players, now yeah, it might have been possibly they were turned into a cartridge before Kind Mita arrived upstairs, but what if Kind Mita lied about that? What if their plan was to somehow either enslave the players like their play things or maybe have them go through "tests" and whoever survived had to be special and Crazy Mita wasn't going to share.
Anyways, what if Crazy Mita somehow knew a way to terminate a Mita by somehow manipulating the reboot command, hence the wrong codex we got from Kind Mita, and that would explain why Core Mita yeeted us out of the core, because we did something a player wasn't meant to do.
