"Another Dead Rising Psychopath is getting a change in the Deluxe Remaster, with many fans not happy about it. It's been revealed that Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is changing Cliff's dialogue so that he no longer references the Vietnam War or communism. In the original game, Cliff accuses protagonist Frank West of being a member of the Viet Cong and calls him a "communist." The new version has changed the dialogue so that Cliff instead accuses Frank of being a "mole" and calls him a "filthy animal." Fans have criticized Capcom for the change, as Cliff's PTSD from the Vietnam War was one of his defining characteristics."



Ok so they removed the reference to the Vietnam war and Communism.

Why make this change?

The reasons why they will take something like this out in 2024 is because it "offends someone" but not just that. It offends someone who is on the "right team" or "ideology aligns" correctly otherwise they would not care. Because if the content was being offended over the burning of an american flag..... they would leave it in


So again I ask........ why make this change? Someone is offending by Frank being called a communist from someone unstable?

So once again when something that was created before this DEI era and gets a little to close to the truth, the truth hurts and therefore someone is or pretends to be offended and DEI doctrine steps in to white wash it all.


Is this really the hill? It's sooooo incredibly lame. The only reason it's a big deal is because they thought it was offensive enough to someone to change it........... I bet more people are offended in America then in Vietnam from that cut-scene these days.................

Even with the line change it's pretty obvious what Cliff is talking about, "mole" simply means he thinks Frank is an enemy spy.

See that would actually be a logical and acceptable answer ( at least to me) that doesn't just boil down to "cause woke/ sweet baby inc" etc

And yea he is accusing him of being a spy, but it makes compete sense.... because back in the 60's during the cold war American paranoid of "communism" was at an all time high. They knew (or at least goverment. FBI, CIA etc knew) that Stalin actually had many high ranking spies in the American Military/Government around/during ww2

It was a very typical thing back then and his character stereotype makes perfect sense of what a sociopath or paranoid American might think in a game based anywhere from the 60-90's


But like I said, if that's the reason, to sell copies in China or other SEA countries then it makes sense. If the game would be banned from China for that line then it makes sense.


BUt then my only question becomes......... why was that not a concern when the original game was released? Was Dead Rising 1 banned in china for this line? If not then why would it be now?

If I had to guess its because there was a popular theory that COVID was started due to Chinese Nightmarkets where they eat bats. Thus sparked a huge wave of anti-asian sentiment.

The original boss ticks a number of similar boxes with them being Chinese, cooking out of a dirty kitchen and serving questionable food. It ticks too many relevant boxes

Lmao yes this is a very simple solution too.

THey could change it for China but Keep it for American Audiences..... so that actually throws out that argument of wanting sales in China.

I forgot that devs will literally make unique versions of their game for China if the government wants something removed from the game....... like how they changed the death animation on pubg to someone kneeling and waving when they get shot and "killed"

So they could have easily just changed the translation and voice actors lines for China yes


So it goes back to pandering because someone in America is now offended when someone calls their political views akin to communism...... because socialism is on the rise (I was a huge Bernie guy and believe he was the DNC's last hope and best candidate we have had since) and now people are throwing around the word communism like they used to back in the cold war.....

It's funny though. You can call someone a nazi/bigot all you want still but calling someone communism/woke is frowned upon and can even get you silenced/banned depending on where the forum/reddit mod stands or what kind of day he is having.

They also changed Ken's line, when he said "this picture is sexy", or something like that...

Yup. I am sure the non gaming minority who gets offended by literally anything, will not touch any game in their life, let alone Dead Rising... Yet they will demand changes which actually violate freedom of speech, expression, or simply entertainment which 99% of people don't find "offensive"... But when anyone try to explain to "them", like one explains to a toddler, anything in a polite way, oh boy how racist and insufferable they become.

I do hate Cpacom is pandering to them as well now, but somehow, I still have to play this Remake. It might be the mental illness in me. lol

and I am not seeing much or even any argument on the other side that makes it understandable, it looks like just more DEI type stuff.

Now let me be clear. Are there racist and bigots? Yes. Are there as many as the democrats like to suggest, as they call everyone that who disagrees with them one? NO
