It most defiantly does
I remember playing the original pc port not that long ago and having them respawn until I figured out just sit in the seat. Because I also figure out at the time that escorting survivors is actually pretty easy with the go forward command being broken balance wise. The zombies AI wouldn't be active in the really far places and the command could pretty much be pointed everywhere including the specific spots. So if you send them to the specific spots the zombies wouldn't attack the survivors at all. The 360 version I am more under certain about since I only played when it came out a decade-ish ago. Which means you never got into the seat.
