How is this game meant to be played?

The 72-hours mode seems to be the primary story mode. But since you only have 3 days, i wonder as a newcomer to the series, how do u play this game as a casual? I am a person who wants to do every mission but since survivors die quickly and most missions are only available at a different time, it seems to be impossible to do everything in one and first playthough. I am currently in my first night and just helped dave, did some escorts, killed that guy in the hunter shop (which was fn hell) and well, i already failed to help the mother and these japanese tourists (they was just running around and i was not able to speak with them) and the mother died in the time i helped those 2 guys in the fashion store.

Is this game franchise about the decisions what you‘re doing in these few days or what is the core?

This game is required to be played multiple times for newcomers and example is when you go to the menu you are able to restart the game but you keep everything you unlocked and your levels. This game incentives you to learn it and replay it to get the best run

Unless you're an expert, doing absolutely everything first playthrough is impossible. The game was designed with multiple playthroughs in mind.

Just play you will get it, the game is pretty well made, and don't worry to miss things, you will do them on your next playthrough the 72h mode is mean't to be replayed! So just have fun doing what you want!

As a general rule with DR1 - don't take your first couple playthroughs too seriously. Learn the game, mess around, level up and eventually you'll learn new things every run and get better.

You can run out of time but still choose to play the game until the helicopter arrives and still get an ending, so don't feel too pressured.

I'll be honest with you, if you're a newcomer dont bother too much doing everything in one run, Dead Rising is meant to be replayed many times.
Get familiar with your surroundings, mechanics and quests, enjoy yourself and then challenge yourself to do the most difficult challenges if you feel like it, it's very rewarding trust me!
