The Original Dead Rising
The Original Dead Rising on Steam is fixed up, and runs great; looks great too!!! As people say "Grab a copy if you still can!" It even runs in 16:10, and works great on steam deck with windows 11. The only thing harder about it, for me at least, is that you need to use the left joystick to aim the gun. :0/

honestly, i prefer the one stick used to move but also aim in aiming mode, grew up with re4, got used to that, always felt weird to use both thumbs when aiming.
also good silver lining michael, even if the remaster doesn't sell well, as long as we convince people to buy some form of dead rising, capcom'll see that as people are still interested in the series.

I'm use to the trackpad on the steam deck and the steam controller; because of the better handling and accuracy. True about convincing, but if you already didn't know, the main developers of the Dead Rising series, I think were located in Vancouver. I read that they went bankrupt. So this version might be from the developers of Capcom of Japan.

that's correct, the sequels were developed by blue castle games/ capcom vancouver which has been shut down now, however capcom has made a poll in which they included the sequels as possible candidates for a remake so i'm still hopeful. the original was solely developed by capcom japan, the second and off the record were developed by BCG but were supervised by capcom japan and the third and fourth were made solely by BCG. This one had a similar process to the second game with Neobards developing the game and Capcom overlooking development.

The original is simply a better game.

This is completely incorrect.

The first game, the 2006 Dead Rising was made by Capcom in house, in Japan.

Capcom Division 1

The sequels were outsourced to the canadian company and given the engine to work with.

This was right after the death of arcades for capcom so they had alot of restructuring going on.

I'll qoute wiki

"Development divisions

In its beginning few years, Capcom's Japan branch had three development groups referred to as "Planning Rooms", led by Tokuro Fujiwara, Takashi Nishiyama and Yoshiki Okamoto.[43][44] Later, games developed internally were created by several numbered "Production Studios", each assigned to different games.[45][46] Starting in 2002, the development process was reformed to better share technologies and expertise, and the individual studios were gradually restructured into bigger departments responsible for different tasks.[46] While there are self-contained departments for the creation of arcade, pachinko and pachislot, online, and mobile games, the Consumer Games R&D Division is an amalgamation of subsections in charge of game development stages.[46][47][48]

Capcom has two internal Consumer Games Development divisions:

Division 1, headed by Jun Takeuchi, develops Resident Evil, Mega Man, Devil May Cry, Dead Rising, and other major franchises (usually targeting global audiences).
Division 2, headed by Ryozo Tsujimoto, develops Ace Attorney, Onimusha, Sengoku Basara, Ōkami, and other franchises with more traditional IP (usually targeting audiences in Asia) alongside online-focused franchises such as Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom, and Lost Planet.[49][50][51]"

Dead Rising 3 uses another engine from 2k Czechs. Modified engine from mafia games maybe?

Forge Engine? modified from Illusion engine?

Is there a arma connection here? idk lol

Well, thanks for the update. I don't think I ever stated that I knew for sure; using the word might, and questioning. But all is good! :0) I appreciate the info, and for now since this game isn't very stable on the rec. settings for me, I've uninstalled it for now, and it gave me some room to fit another favorite; dead rising 3, on my msd card.
