Why does this remake look worse than the original?

You guys are charging $50-60 dollars for a watered down "remake" of a game that came out 18 years ago. It looks somehow worse than Dead Rising 4 in terms of graphics and style which I'm surprised. Forget about the idiotic changes to characters and random mechanics in the game like the photography. Forget about the random preorder bonus skins that should be something free you pick up from playing the game or doing an objective. It looks even worse than the 2006 game even with the "HD" graphics.

Frank West is basically a completely different character now voiced by that guy from DR4 who is a great VA but is not what the fans are looking for. TJ Rotolo is READY and WILLING to work and yet you keep glossing him over to get some random hollywood grade voice actor to take his place. Nobody wants this minigolf crap again. You can't even make it a toggle and keep the original lines? Why are you so afraid of hiring him? All of the characters look off when they try to make them "realistic" humans instead of stylized humans.

I appreciate what the devs are doing for fixing the glaring issues like adding a staircase outside the vents and improving the survivor AI so they aren't brainless lemmings. I do not think that all of these "changes" count as improvements and seem more like them trying to turn it into a sterilized and inoffensive experience. It's going to effect the psychopaths (uhm acktually it's maniacs now cuz' it's offensive and we didn't wanna bother making cutscenes for them - Dead Rising 4 Devs) Look at how it turned out for them.

Dead Rising/DR2/DR2:OTR/& DR3 are some of my favorite games ever made and it's a shame we have modern capcom working on an "HD" re-release so they can squeeze more money out of the remaining fans who haven't left their sorry asses in the dirt. Why not just make a new game? Oh, that's right. Dead Rising 3 was a "failure" (not) and Dead Rising 4 closed down Capcom Vancouver. That's why you'll keep squeezing the tit of this series until it is bone dry on a "safe" game you'll edit to try and get everyone hyped for it to come out.

Just play the original. The only people that this remaster appeals to are tourists for the series who only played 3/4 and people who need the entire game redone not to offend them and make it easy to the point a game journalist can beat it without any difficulty or effort required.

The information I knew was outdated. I kinda forgot about this even happening until I read the ♥♥♥♥ about Cliff's dialogue being changed to remove the vietnam war stuff.

It's not even released yet. You've only gotten to see pre-release footage. The idea that DR1 looks better graphically (instead of stylistically) is a bit of a stretch, and I get the feeling that you know you're being disingenuous by saying that. DR1 is not easy to look at on any platform. The obsession with the VA is just weird. Tj is the superior Frank, and as a fan since the release of the 1st game I honestly couldn't give a ♥♥♥♥ that it's not Tj. It's been years, and we don't even know how this new guy is gonna perform. Is Tj preferrable? Yeah. Personally, I don't think that's a dealbreaker, unless all of his dialogue got switched to millennial humor writing, or he does a generally bad job.

That's just it ALL the lines are basically being rerecorded either from the original actors or new people. So that might actually happen. Yeah, I was being a teensy-weensy bit disingenuous but I meant in terms of soul vs. soulless. Sure, some of the reflections and minor details look a trillion times better than the original but it just looks...off. It's not just character models but the footage of the mall itself.

I've been burned so many times I've become distrustful. I hope I am wrong but everytime I hear about this game it's something I genuinely don't want or care for.

Ironically, I just bought the original game instead of this censored hot mess. Never played Dead Rising, but after seeing all the changes/censorship made. This "remake" was made for a modern audience I am not part of. My money my choice. If they're gonna ruin their game in order to please the small minority, then they can let that small minority play this game instead. I'm out.

It's definitely a fair concern, all we can do is hope the dialogue stays mainly the same, and doesn't get turned into corny reddit humor. But I can welcome the idea of new actors if they don't butcher it. I agree that translating DR1 into a standard HD remake looks a little out of place. It's definitely lacking it's own unique style, and just kinda looks like every UE game that comes out anymore. If they pull this off right, I think this game can still be as fun as the original, despite its changes.

Regarding the game's looks, I don't really like the RE engine they're using for the character models. It makes everyone look like one of two things; gorgeous to RE2 burger
