And TBH the charm of the old save system has been gone for a long time now. They gave us 5 slots in the 2016 remaster which reduced the game's difficulty significantly. It lost that "rogue-like" feeling where you sometimes had to restart your run with no other options.
Games used to reward for alot of different challenges.
Now they charge you for the rewards and just give you the game completely open ended like a sandbox generally.
I always kinda liked save points as it gives me more of a feeling of acomplisment in the game.
People have always self imposed there own rules alot of the times if they enjoy a game.
Kinda sucks now people can data mine games day 1. No more sense of mystic or rumors.

Its funny, i thought ready player one was kinda silly movie but they really nailed what video games are about, #1 on a leader board, and finding all the easter eggs in a game
