Having the real mega buster included is kind of stupid considering that's an unlockable weapon for doing a specific challenge, it should be strong. You're also ignoring other comically powerful weapons like the Mannequin Torso.
I will move on the RMB however, for me DR is all about achievement grinding so its the prime tool to use but its not the intended way of playing for 98% of players.
The only thing the chainsaws have over MT is being able to stack the durability books. Mannequin Torso is by far the most powerful weapon in the game when it comes to raw damage when you're at max level. Honestly though just hope the durability books themselves are nerfed rather than any weapons in this remake. Being able to get thousands of uses out of any weapon shouldn't be a thing imo.
plus the SC has that AOE so its just better for zombies and psychos
Dead Rising Wiki damage values I'm pretty sure are just base damage values not accounting for level ups (I tried using these values while testing things to do dumb challenge runs before and they never lined up accurately with what the wiki said). And the thing that makes the mannequin torso so (unintentionally) strong is that it seems to get so much exponentially stronger with your level ups compared to other weapons.
Small Chainsaw is absolutely the best weapon in the game because of the durability books, but for fighting bosses specifically the MT is still a better weapon just not one people go out of their way to pick up because they have an infinite durability chainsaw that does the job. (Which is why I say durability books need some HEAVY nerfing in this remake)
Well, the thing is people only ever really use the durability books in Dead Rising 1 for the Small Chainsaw, not for anything else. And either way regardless of how powerful it is I don't think you should be able to use ANY weapon for as long as you can when you have all the durability books that apply to it.
And honestly I don't see why anyone would be annoyed at the chainsaw being weaker if anything does happen to it. The game giving you 1 correct weapon to pick up as early as possible then use for the rest of the game kind of completely takes away from the whole "everything is a weapon" gimmick the game was going for. Making the chainsaws weaker, whether that be through directly nerfing them, changing how durability books work (or both) would only be a positive thing for the game. And we've already seen that DRDR has other substantial gameplay changes already.
I feel like just nerfing the chainsaw would give you exactly that. The chainsaw would still be powerful, but so would other weapons like Cliff's machete, Sean's sword, shotgun's, etc. If the chainsaw didn't last forever you would probably be more likely to pick those weapons up depending on what part of the map you're in just to save a bit of time.
Also more to the point of the thread, I think there needs to be more content in the last 12 hours of the main game. Being able to fast forward time now will make it less tedious than it is in the original game, but having that much of the in-game timer having basically nothing to do but walk around and fight soldiers is such a waste.
Also just a greater variety of stores throughout the mall. The entrance plaza comes to mind as one that seems to have a lot of filler if you know what I mean.
