Give it time. It most likely will come to Steam but if its already going to be available on GoG. Why does it matter if it comes to Steam or not?
i more so want a console release as i like buying the discs. i do have a PS1 and a copy of RE2 (and i plan on getting 1 and 3 later) but i'd love a physical copy that works on my PS5 especially since (to my knowledge) every console release of RE1 has censorship to some extent
As much as I understand and totally get why people want discs. It def wont happen unfortunately for those who want it.
The XB and PS are going all digital next gen. As per what the rumors are saying. Especially since stores have started to clear out physical media. Its not going to be supported much longer. So I highly doubt Capcom will do that.
Not sure what region besides JP censored the game, but here it is not. RE 1 had blood and gore and than when they fell to the floor. A pool of blood would form. So I dont remember it ever being censored for my region.
nope in the US its censored. the opening scene is in black and white and lacks the gore. the japenese version was in black and white but had the gore. the directors cut was in color but lacked the gore (due to a mistake this was also the case with the japenese release) basically the PC version was the only truly uncensored version of the original RE1. theres other forms of censorship in the US release too such as the removal of chris smoking
also stores havnt cleared out physical media. that was basically only best buy and just for movies and tv shows. everyone else is still selling physical media and it still sells VERY WELL. i very much doubt consoles will stop supporting physical media simply because their cheap to produce and there is still a very large market. hell with the snake eater remake the CE sold out completely in less than 2 hours
As per sales. Unless the physical copies are exclusive. Digital takes the lead over physical by a huge margin.

its still a large market various things wouldnt sell out as quickly as they do if it wasnt. many people also buy digitally and physically. and yes the one with the head falling was a less censored one but unless you played it on pc it was still censored
I cant remember the last time I bought a physical game. I welcomed digital format. Too many games collecting and wasting space. That I would never go back to and play. Especially now that we have all these remasters. Making the games better than the originals. So I dont mind at all.
But being that Digital makes up 95% of the market as of last year. It makes sense that Publishers are moving away from it all together. Pretty soon it will indeed be almost 100%.
I'm in a PAL (Australia) region and it was always Black and White for the last ~25+ years that I've been aware of the series. I always thought it was an artistic choice to go hand-in-hand with the rest of the old-school B-movie horror asthetic.
Huh, that's interesting.
that scene uncensored has a lot of gore too
If there is nothing within the next few months then i'll give in and buy the GOG one.
GOG made the deal with Capcom to get the rights to have it for their platform. They also went and got it work on modern hardware with some QOL improvements. Why would they just hand it over to another store? Especially a store that doesn't care about preserving older titles compared to GOG where that is one of their missions for their entire storefront?
Just get GOG, you're acting like it's EGS or something :/
