No TJ Rotolo, No Buy
The performances of the original Dead Rising cast are iconic, and a large part of the game's enduring legacy. I'm frankly sick of Capcom treating the voices behind their characters as disposable.

That's unfortunate for sure.. I'm not even sure there are new voice lines to warranty an entire re recording.. but even so, they should have brought the same voice actor back.

However, you never know. Maybe Capcom did offer him the job and he was simply not interested and re-record the same game again or he was busy with another project. You can never point fingers without really knowing how the business went down.

In the trailer you can hear that some voice recording for other characters are re-used from the original. Maybe Frank did get new lines, so he needed to be voiced all over again.

The butcher boss is completely different, so he was also recast.

As far as I remember, the only unvoiced dialog is the conversations with survivors during scoops, and Otis's radio calls. I certainly would've accepted them remaining that way to keep the original recordings.

Yeah I am torn on this. It would be a definite day 1 purchase for me if TJ Rotolo was the VA for Frank.

It's a damn shame because everything else looks great in the remake.

This is either gonna be a discount purchase for me, whether it's later in time or from a grey market site, or I'll wait until a mod is available to restore the correct voice for Frank.

I understand where you're coming from but like, on the other hand, I'm willing to forgive that if it improves enough good stuff.

I do hope all the radio calls from Otis are fully voiced now. It was a bit of a chore trying to read his msgs (which were very fast) and play the game at the same time.

Yeah I just saw it. Honestly hard to understand since Capcom called him to do stuff like Marvel vs Capcom Infinite story mode and other cameos here and there. I can't see the reason why he wasn't the first choice.

Chill out dude. I'm not spreading any information at all. Just questioning if he was even offered the job or not.

Learn to read and how communication works instead of senseless accusation. I even acknowledged when Piotyr confirmed that TJ already spoke about it.

Your post history says otherwise.

It's a huge shame they're trying to distance from T.J. as he really makes the character, I thought it was weird especially considering they had him as Birkin in Resident Evil 2, but I'm sure someone will mod in the original voice-acting at least.

Make your voice heard regardless though.

As long as the script isn't changed then the voice will be fine imo.

Part of the reason Hank East was unbearable in DR4 was the fact he was written like a family guy character instead of how he was in prior games. DR1 still has a lot more serious moments that contrasted the humor and define the writing.

I'm upset they replaced him, but still giving it a chance regardless, as long as the gameplay is there I could give a ♥♥♥♥ less about voice acting. I play Crime Boss: Rockay City after all.

TJ Rotolo is a union VA, and Capcom historically has been hesitant to work with unions. That's probably why this happened.
