A button input stops working in game on battle/combine screen on steamdeck

Won't notice it when placing pieces but notice it when it's the battle sequence, can't hit 'a' to combine anything. Also can't go into options or anything else when bringing up the settings when this occurs. A button works fine outside of this game and in other steam and non-steam games. Forced to close the game then when it reloads 'a' won't register on the press any button prompt on the main screen either. If I press anything else to go past that prompt then the 'a' button will work again for a bit. Then this repeats in the next 45 mins to a hour. Also occurs when not placing my steam deck in sleep mode at all for that session.

I've had this happen before. It seems to happen when you use the touchpad then go back to controller input. It seems to go away when you trigger the touchpad again and then press A.
